Anybody thought about swapping out their Pre-LCI Headlights for LCI Xenon Headlights?
From what I gather it would just be a straight plug and play change.
The thought has crossed my mind about doing a swap, but there are concerns. Sometimes I get tired of that white strip on the Pre-LCI headlights and I really like the yellow lighted slit on the side of the headlight on the LCI-Xenon lights and the fact that the eyebrows are lighted too, but the change to a halogen bulb for the turn signal is a fail in my opinion. Anybody else thought about doing a swap or done so already? Would be a lot cheaper than the LED lights too I imagine. Anyone know any part numbers?

Get LEDs if you must make a change.

I didn't care for them just because of the shiny line below the lights at the bottom... They look nice but
that thing makes them look cheap, i would have not mided it for free but to pay extra money no way, But I like Auto High Beams and I miss this feature at night!! Had these on my E550 coupe 2010!! - |

I like honeycomb on pre-lci lights and as Dave has mentioned turn indicators look cheap and crap! Illuminated line is nice, but thats about it!
It is really a pointless swap! I have orange slit on my pre-lci headlights, which i like as well! LED's are just so much nicer, the other day i saw 435 with LED's coming towards me at night, i thought its an m4 (i knew its not possible, but it looked like completely different car compared to other 4 series i hv seen), before it passed me! They stand out so much and change a look of a car! I would love to put LED's but i cant justify paying triple price of an option for retrofitting them! But how much can we get for our headlights? Any thoughts? And who will buy them? |

I light my pre-LCI lights better than the LED. If the LED didn't have the silver strip, then they would be fully black and look nice.
I also like the honeycomb in pre-LCI lights.

I will try to capture the beauty of the strip in a photo. But maybe not tonight.

Dave,
You don't always see the 'egg yolk' turn signal bulbs and in some youtube videos your can see the turn signal 'strip' permanently lit, but mine aren't as per the pictures below (must be market specific & possibly a replacement for the side marker LEDs in the pre-LCI) - take a look at this from 1:48 onwards. Initially I didn't like the LCI lit eyebrow, but now I prefer it to the pre-LCI frosted eyebrow. I did think about upgrading to the LEDs, but ruled it out due to cost and potential for problems as I don't believe that that upgrade is plug & play. I think it would be a good upgrade, the new headlights have less white in them, I'll have to look into it to the see cost difference.
Are we sure they're plug N play? |

However I think it looks fantastic when the Halos are illuminated on any BMW.

I don't think it simply plug and play to change the old Xenon to the new LED lights. Especially for RHD. What I heard is a lot of wires involve and coding to be able to switch it.
I looking into changing too but don't seem to be able to find any for RHD F10 M5. |

In other words you are getting extra 10 ECU's in your car, if you retrofit LED's I checked with couple guys in germany and only parts come at nearly triple price of an option LED's are fully adaptive and they move up down left right, they can dim particular part of the road, while keeping other part of the road in full beam, etc etc, which means from my understanding they are exact same parts for LHD and RHD, just need to be coded But bmw should have added settings for lights ages ago like land rover did, u can choose LHD or RHD and they adapt for your chosen setting straight away Very convenient if you live in uk and travel to europe |
