I need some advice....
I had my car in for the 'break-in' service at the dealership last week. I received a call from the SA advising that the car servicing was complete however the lot boy 'bumped' my car into a pole that was on the car lot. The damage was to the passenger side bumper - right on the sensor. The sensor still works by the way. Damage is estimated at around $1,500. While the SA and Service Manager were both extremely apologetic and will pay for the repairs, they have not offered any compensation for the damage. This car is less than 6 months old without a single scratch. Comments, advice would be most helpful. |

I'd be fine as long as they gave a free loaner. But I'm easy like that.

It is what it is, mistakes happen. I'd be pissed too but what can you do. I would at least take it to a bodyshop of my own that i use vs using their own bodyshop unless your comfortable with that. But just make sure nothing gets reported to a carfax or autocheck. Paintwork on a bumper is very hard to detect regardless.

compensation? not sure that it's owed. you weren't injured. their responsibility is to fix the damage. what you could try Is suggesting you would go somewhere else for service in the future. That might get their attention. if there is a cute SA, you could also demand sex. from him. good luck!

Sorry to hear that happened. Hope they'll get it fixed asap. As for compensation, I'd probably ask for a few bottles of engine oil since this motor consumes some in between oil change intervals.
Not sure if OP is leasing the car or not, but if he is, I doubt the dealer will offer him an M5 as loaner (we probably go to the same dealer for service/repair here) and since he's paying the price of an M5, why does he need to sacrifice for something less which wasn't his fault to begin with? It's quite reasonable and fair to ask for something minor assuming dealer will offer him a less-car loaner than the M5. Just my opinion.

If leasing, who cares ! You are giving it back anyway.
If you bought, I would be pissed and will demand some form of compensation such as credit towards accessories from the Parts dept. |

As long as they fix it correctly, and a loner I would call it day! If your car was hit by a stranger in a parking lot insurance would fix it, and that would be the end of it. Dealer sctatched mine at the 1200 mile service, and they had it painted to spec no issues. Remeber at the VDC a lot of stuff happens that we never see(:

Agree with above. Get it fixed. Get the best loaner they have available. Move on. They made a mistake and were up front with you. What more could you ask for. Shit happens.
A date with the SA if he is in fact cute would be a bonus for you I suppose.

Remember some people "love" new cars and when they get them it's a great feeling. IF they get early damage it tarnishes or even kills off that feeling. I know first hand. I bought a new 640D M Sport and found 5 panels had nibs under the paint after my drive home, I was told "we will re-paint it", I said new car or keep it. I got the new car. eventually.

Will the repair show up in a future Car Fax report? If so, then that will diminish the value of your vehicle. If not, then make sure that the repairs are 100% complete, full detail with OptiCoat Pro!
