So my wife is out of town on business and I'm bored. Fun project and I got to use my trim pulling kit. Here you go, hope this helps. Big pics so you can read the numbers.

by the way, to fully do this swap you are going to have to remove 4 plugs (easy) and the power for cigarette lighter (where I think the connecter is, is wrapped in grey cloth, so not sure how easy). Then there are 5 screws that hold the part to the trim piece -- 4 easy screw and one that was impossible for me to get a bit on. I was going to try and take my whole part out to wash the dried coffee out of the bottom corners, but couldn't get the last screw... its blocked by the power piece for the power adaptor port backlighting.

I ended up doing only a partial removal (hence the tilted, sub-optimal pictures) to get the photo. I ended up only disconnecting the ashtray LED and brake harness.

Just ordered the part. Should be here 03/06-03/07.

So what kind of install is this going to be?? I thought all you needed to do is remove the key hole trim, unbolt the bolt next to key hole, then lift up the leather trim piece, and then you get access to remove cup holder?

I think if you can get that last screw it should take all of 15 minutes.

I actually lost track of all the things I ordered over winter
Have to check in with my parts guy so I can get started on all the little projects.
The 4 is a fun car and perfect for winter and terrible roads in Boston
But I am looking forward to the day I can take the M5 out again (drove it for one day in January)

The right part came, and I got it installed. Thanks again to everyone who helped with the p/n search.

I took photos along the install incase anyone else wants to do the same and needs some help. If anyone asks I'll throw together a DIY.

Yep took about.. 25 min to install.
But I had a work emergency in the middle and needed to run to the computer.

I had to figure everything out as I went so that added to time. Probably only take me 10 min if I did it again.

It amazes me that BMW still can't get cup holders right the first time.

I guess you guys don't know about furiousmethod.com?
You enter in the part number and it searches about 20 sites and shows the price but not shipping.
You will need to disable your popup blocker or allow furiousmethod.com.

thebmwpartsstore is usually the cheap place in the US but not this time.

It sounds stupid to say but this is a must do mod if you drink (juice) and drive. The old cup holder really pissed me off every time I used it.
