Of course, this is all exacerbated by the fact that the electronics make it so much harder - if not impossible - to work on your own car. The days of nursing your own car through 20 years of life by doing the maintenance and repairs in your garage with a fairly basic set of tools are likely history.

There's zero chance I keep it past 50k even though I own it. Like someone else said, the electronics scare the hell out of me too. In my e46 m3 I had an smg fault that was never fixed after being looked at six times at two different shops, since then I've vowed never to keep a high end car out of warranty. I'd rather eat that cost and put it into something new I don't have to worry about, and not have any unexpected bills. I figure it will be minimum 1k anytime I bring it in.

if there is 60-70K miles on the clock for a 2013 would lead me to believe all highway, not a lot of stop and go. Driven the way the engine likes to be driven. Probably smooth roadways. As long as all services done, don't think issues would manifest at engine level. Probably good trans as well. And if maintenance and carfax are clean, if nothing has happened yet, chances of catastrophic failure is pretty nil.

As of today I'm 50 miles shy of 90k. Normal Service always completed. Replaced the clutch, getting ready to replace my brake fluid and couple other things. No real issues w my car. Very solid and I'm happy w it. Don't want or need a car note so it's a keeper. Bought my car nov 2012 w 40 miles on it.

you will never know the real true history of a car unless owned by family and even then....
as long as maintained service, no modding (again need to believe they didnt mod), clean car fax, PPI, etc... The car should last well into the 100K+ range, as long as you dont abuse it and do the services and maybe a bit more preventative stuff. |

I was doing general maintence plus I got a new file which caused it to slip more. I have a 2013. When I bought it in 2012 I only did x3 launches. Never did it since. Great running car. Electronic wise only my drivers door actuator went out so no soft close. Being fixed this week.

E39 540i w DINAN had 240k when I sold it in '10. Just general cooling issues and an alternator. E60 550i Dinan was just sold a couple months ago with 120k. E
Except for thrust arm bushings everything was original and in great shape. |

97k "Grandpa driven miles," right?? Haha. Your car is unbelievable considering how many miles you've put on it, Marvin. That's the right way to own a car!
