Which is the best way?

EDIT: just checked my car and fuse 129 is empty

I know not fuse 200!! fuse 129 doesn't show up on the fuse diagram that I can see and works per this thread has anyone else tried this?

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1243856

Or just unplug?

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=983411

I want to turn it off to hear the difference but the easiest reversible way if its too quiet even with the MPE

Coding is the way to go but second best is to just pull the plug like I did. Makes a big difference.

Thanks and yes I was wanting to code my last car but apparently having only Mac's makes it more difficult so I gave up lol. I may try coding this one some things I always wanted to do!

Does disabling it make the inside sound louder?

No it will be quieter but what you hear will be real exhaust & engine noise not artificial through the speakers

It was supposed to be fuse 129 per the other thread I read however when I opened the fuse panel there was already no fuse in that location so I just pulled back the trunk liner and unplugged it (second link) didn't take it all the way out just removed three fasteners and it was easily accessed.

Did you notice a nice change especially in the "drone zone" I have oem exhaust with flaps tied open and like the noise it makes but the ASD in 7th gear is awful wondering if this took care of it?

I disabled my ASD. Didn't like it (too quiet inside with the windows up) so I coded it back on.

That's what I am afraid of but its pretty nice and loud right now with the MPE and flaps open (atleast I think it is lol) but maybe everything inside I was hearing was artificial ? I'm anxious to see how much was real and how much was fake

Whoa! definitely makes a difference. I can still hear the exhaust note but other sounds that i didn't realize were fake are gone. Overall its quieter with the windows up but i like it better knowing what i hear is real. It also seems like you are going slower than you are with the lack of fake engine sound I hope it doesn't get me in trouble maybe thats why BMW did it in the first place

Best to code out. With my RPi GTM and downpipes the ASD really sounded horrible. It's so freaking loud anyways having extra sound piped into the cabin was too much.

I would agree if and when I decide to have anything coded but really unplugging the unit took me all of 10 minutes

I'm using a Mac and can code fine. Running Windows on the Mac through VMWare. No issues whatsoever coding.

I just did this by unplugging it. I just removed three of the plugs and pulled the cover down enough to see the plug. Got my hands in there, moved the little black lever thing that holds the plug in place and pulled the plug out. Zip tied the harness/plug to a piece of metal and put the cover back in place.
Definitely makes difference. I can hear the tires and road more and with the windows down i can finally hear my CP exhaust.

yep super easy and it's noticeably void of sounds that I thought were real lol..I like it much better hearing the real thing ....but now I guess I need to buy an intake to add back some real intake sound

Wasn't there a thread somewhere on here about intakes
