I also prefer the sound of the M5 to the traditional V8 burble of the AMG's. The M5 sounds more exotic/refined.

But the Panamera sound like a AMG V8 (not bad). Because of the cross bank exhaust manifold on the S63Tu the warble of a cross plane crank V8 is gone. Creating a more flat, race like engine note. Not as warm and burbly as on a Panamera or AMG, but more hard and "racey" perhaps.
I see,
Well I am.mkre fond of AMG sound to be honest,
I took CLS63 2012 once for a good spin and man, that engine and that rumble were way better than M5 sadly!! Haven't listened to them side by side and I may be not very accurate because back then I didn't have the M5 but had E550 coupe 2010 which was a silent motor too!!

Yeah I forgot the 918 is the Hybrid one,
Which was what we were talking about!!
Early dementia my friend -; )

Me too. Love the F10 M5 sound (albeit Competition pack-enhanced), although it could maybe be just a little louder and with no sound piping to get there. Let's face it. The M crowd (and I am one!) wants to hear and feel the engine. It is the soul of the car.

As for Competition packs generally, I don't mind them adding more HP and certain very extreme track-specific set-up changes, but they should not be required to get proper, optimal sound and handling for the car. A full M car in base format should already give you that. A full M car is THE high-spec model. I know this has been discussed many times, but I want to add my voice to that. M division: grab your clipboard for 2018/2019. Your work, while outstanding is not finished.

Question

My Question after reading all your comments.
Do I keep my LCI M5 till 2016 or upgrade it in 2015, then wait and see if and when this "G"model turns up?.

With the current deals in UK, have you ruled out M6/M6GC (I would rather do that then another F10 M5, but that's just me - PS will try to post Moonstone video tomorrow)?

Well M6 Coupe is out as two seats wont do, drove the M6 GC and frankly did not like it.

Looking forward to the video though.
