Extended BMW warranty
Guys,
Just got "special" pricing from the dealership to extend my warranty. I have a 2013 m5 with a warranty that expires in 4 weeks. They are telling me this is a special deal that expired yesterday, but I can still get it if I act today. I have low miles, so I'm interested in 7 year, 70k miles. Price I received: Platinum plan: 84 months, 70k miles: $6120 plus tax. Have an option to pay 10% down and the rest is at 0% over 2 years. Is this a good deal? Sounds like it's a bit high considering 100k is only $350 more. If anyone has a contact with better pricing, please share. What's a good price? Alex |

That's close to what I was offered for 100k but did not know about the 0% finance offer which is a plus.

Called and left voicemails to 2 other dealerships to get their pricing.
I know the price is negotiable, I just don't know what is a good price. Can anyone share their experience and pricing? |

From what I've read on the forums Greg Poland at Pacific BMW seems to be the person to contact about an extended warranty. Also please mention you're from Bimmerpost. Good luck!

So it looks like BMW is not allowing sales of extended warranties to those who look for the best price and buy them outside of their home state. Before you could do that, but not anymore.
Stupid model, since BMW allows the dealers to set their own price, so the price varies significantly from state to state. As a consumer there is nothing you can do. Does anyone know how to get around this? |

BMW's policy is that the car and the owner have to show up at the dealership they are buying the extended warranty from.

It is true from my experience. I'm in FL, got a reply from a dealership in GA, saying that they aren't not selling warranties to buyers from outside of their state, unless you buy a car from them.

Greg from CA did respond. Told me he can't sell it to me anymore because of the same issue I mentioned. It sounded like if I showed up with a car at his dealership, he would be able to help. But that's a lot of driving/work to save some $$$. I just don't get why I can't just call any BMW dealer I want and buy the warranty.
Also spoke to a couple FL dealers and all of them told me that the state is regulated and therefore they all have to sell at the same price. Spoke to 3 different dealerships and all had the same price and same story. |

Although more expensive, keeping everything else equal, I think using BMW extended warranty would be easier. I won't have to wait to get reimbursed, or have non OEM parts installed. Plus I read many horror stories about even the best 3rd party warranties.
