Just installed my AMS Downpipes

Just installed my AMS downpipes! Took me about 2 1/2 to compete.

The sound is amazing and I freaking love it!

There is some rattle tho and I have been reading about the same issue some other people are having with the AMS downpipes rattle.

Other than that I'm super happy, CEL is on, so I'll be getting JB4 soon to get rid of that!

Get it done! You won't regret it. It sounds amazing.

If your getting the AMS downpipes you might need to get longer bottom o2 sensor wires. I was able to run the o2 sensor wires under the heat shield and bracket for the DMEs also make sure you get new gaskets (thanks allmotor) for the bottom of the down pipes where it connects to the rest of the exhaust.

The gaskets are supposed to stop the rattle, but I'm guessing it's inevitable. I might contact AMS to see if they have a fix for it.

What brand are you going with ?

You seem mechanically-inclined. Your 2.5 hours would = 10 hours for me + any MacGyver factors.

Lol not really mechanically inclined, just worked on a lot of the cars I owned (40+ cars), I think having the right tools was the key.

Did it at my buddy's shop with him, after hours so I had full access to the tools and lift so it made everything a lot easier.

Also one of his buddies who is a BMW tech, showed up during the end of the process, so he kinda steered us through the end of the process

95% of the work is done from top.
You have disconnect the downpipes from exhaust from under the car. Two bolts each pipe if I remember correct.

Getting it lined up from the top, into the exhaust was a little challenging. And you might need to grind down the washer, atleast I did a little to make it fit better. Might be just with the AMS pipes.

Nope, just push them off to the side of you have zip ties, just use them to keep them out of the way.

I've got a BMS CAN CEL Delete Tool for sell if you don't want to go through all of the trouble of installing a JB4.

I'm on the fence of getting downpipes + JB4, what's holding me back is the mentioned rattle and possible drone. I have a Supersprint exhaust and it already has a very mild drone at low RPM. I'm afraid it might get worse after I get downpipes. A guy I know with the same exhaust had Supersprint downpipes installed + JB4 and he said there's rattle from the downpipes when they get hot and noticeable drone at 3k rpm...

Anyone else can share their input on the drone/rattle?

If you've already got some drone, then catless downpipes will only amplify it.
