Opinions: Removal of Glued on Roof Spoiler

Former owner of the car installed a roof spoiler but the dum-dum used glue instead of double sided tape. My question is, since it's mounted on the glass and not paint, can I use metal fishing line on this? The normal nylon fishing line snaps and it doesn't matter what gauge it is.

I say metal because I'm making minimal progress with a metal spatula/ paint scraper. This adhesive is freaking evil. If anyone has another method I haven't looked into yet please let me know..

Metal fishing line is going to destroy the glass. You are going to have to take a thin blade like a spackle knife and just carefully break it off, then use a razor blade to try and hopefully clean the glue off the glass. Why would someone glue the spoiler on there.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. I am using a metal Spackle knife and progress is minimal because this damn adhesive is so thick.

I may go with the metal fishing line because I intend to replace it with another roof spoiler. That Spackle knife method is driving me nuts.

note: removing because the paint is faded and oxidized on the roof spoiler, old owner attempted to vinyl wrap it but did a crap job, and no vinyl place is able to wrap it right while its still on the car.

So homeboy used urethane glue and another adhesive that dried to the consistency of rock. Used a thin hacksaw blade for the rocky adhesive and metal fishing line with the urethane glue.. glass was not damaged and used 0w-40 for lubricant as we were sawing away.

He must have used gorilla glue or something like that, what you use instead of nails for a gate post.

I don't know what this widget used on it.. needless to say after all the sawing and hacking, the roof spoiler wasn't salvageable. The new one is in the paint shop.
