Be advise though that prolong use of additives or boosters containing MMT may introduce problems with catalytic converters, injectors, oxygen sensors, etc. which is why U.S. petroleum refineries only use MMT to a limited degree -- it may be the cheapest way to boost gasoline octane but at what cost? Personally, I would just go buy gasoline whose octane is prescribed by the manual, not more, not less.

I completely agree with you. But, if all you are wanting it for is the bi-annual track day with the M5 then I think that fits into that strategy.

If it does knock then I will have to look for gas with an Octane rating of 93 -- my mechanic tells me that the U.S. gas with rating of 93 is the recommended octane for turbo-charged engines.
Chevron 91 is the best of the best in my area for another ~200 miles. Besides that we got Shell V-Power.. But that seemed to actually do more damage then good with my old 535. Not sure how the M5 would react to it, so I've religiously only used Chevron.

98+ RON. usually Tesco Ultimate.

Here in the UK the crackpots at the EU are making petrol manufacturers put Biofuel into gas, it makes the M3 and m5 run really badly. Shell is the worst in this so alot of us over here have stopped using Shell Vpower Nitro.

Biofuel sucks! I can tell the difference in the diesel and gas autos I own. Drops power significantly! It's all political crap!

so it only just happened when shell launched Vpower nitro+

I'm using Tesco 99, there is one near wembley and one near Heathrow.

The other fuel thats ok is sainsburys 97. BP ultimate is ok also but they are usually alot more price wise, I avoid them on principal.
