Can someone share their experience on swapping pre-LCI headlights for OEM LCI? Since umnitzas are on backorder for months, would it be just as easy (similar process) to buy factory LCI Headlights? Is it just plug, code, and play?

No, if you are talking about the Xexon LCI Headlights, then this cannot be done to a Pre-LCI M5 without great cost. I actually posted a thread about this a long time ago too. I forget the title of the thread though. But I basically found out that the even the LCI Xexon headlights use completely different modules compared to the Pre-LCI Xexon headlights and therefore you will need to buy a whole new set of modules for the LCI Xenon Headlights to work. This will run you at least over $5,000 grand I think, to buy the LCI Xexon headlights and all of the modules and not to mention the new coding that will have to be done.

I think I did hear that the Umnitza lights were backordered as well, but I haven't spoken to them in a long time.

Anyways, if you really really want to upgrade the Pre-LCI Headlights for the M5, I actually found another source besides Umnitza. I don't know how they compare to Umnitza, but this website seems to sell them. I am guessing that if they are similar to the Umnitza, they should be plug-and-play and will only need to having the simple coding done to remove the adaptive headlights error. It might be worth checking out.

The OEM LED headlight retrofit will cost you around $6k, or less, if you manage to find a cheaper set of fully equipped used headlights (each headlight has 4 LED modules). You're likely to need a new gateway and light module, some wiring changes and coding.

I didn't even get a reply from them, back when I was researching my retrofit. From what I know they only did it once on their car and they had to fly a Russian guy in to do the install and coding for them

I learned that it's easy to make this retrofit sound complicated, but in reality, it really isn't. It all comes down to how much you wanna sit and learn about coding the Fxx chassis, the rest is cake.

You can obtain these headlights for $300-800 a piece, if you dont mind a cracked or repaired tab, you can walk away with a pair of lights with modules for under $2K.

As for the modules... you would need to swap two modules. The FRM3 module (theres only one other version that has support for LED lighting), and the ZGW module. Only issue is.. if you have a VERY early build with CIC... just wait for Umnitza. lmao

For hose with NBT... you get a ZGW-02 8SK module (vs 4SK - fitted to handle less features), FRM3have them coded in.

You can get em new, roughly $350 a pop, or used - $100-150 each.

Roughly $2500 in parts.

I got a few pairs of LED headlight plugs, and some FRM3 / ZGW 8SK modules if anyone is up for this.

I have a 2012 M5 with CIC, the retrofit process is the same as you described. Part numbers for the FRM and ZGW may differ.

Are you referring to OEM LCI update or Umnitza/aftermarket? I would like to do this with OEM off a 14+

Yes, I did it initially with keeping the CIC. I later upgraded to NBT Evo. I have posted a parts list in some of the numerous threads about the LED headlights retrofit.
