Also worth considering that due to all the campaigns BMW run on the M5/M6s, depreciation is rising on F10 M5s (it's much worse than it was on previous generation M5s).

To expand on M5essex's comments regarding the M5 above, for the majority of drivers, 90% of the time you may as well be driving a non-M F10 and gain the increased refinement (lower dBs at UK cruising speeds, improved ride, etc.). 10% of the time you'll open up the exhaust and remind yourself why you did choose an M5.
Thanks once again for your detailed reply
Why do you say this exactly... 'I declined with the adaptive drive 535d, only to regret it later.'
The depreciation side of things is also a very big concern with an M5
The more I think about it though the more I think I'm in the 90% category as noted above
Can I really justify spending another £400+ a month on a car that I can't really use to it's full potential???

I only test drove a 530d M Sport on passive suspension before I blind ordered the 535d with adaptive drive. I was offered a BMW demo car before my order was locked in, however, declined on the basis that the adaptive drive car couldn't be worse than the passive suspension M Sport. I relied too much on the magazine reviews.

When I got the 535d what I experienced was this - in the comfort & adaptive modes my car would 'float' & I couldn't get the car to stay permanently in sport mode (damping would not stay firm all the time). In the adaptive modes my suspension was also slow to react so you could turn off a motorway on to twisty country lanes and the car would lean excessively and understeer, hence, the previous 'boat' comment. I can recall on one very tight & twisty country lane I struggled to keep up with a 1.6TDI Golf SE!

I also didn't like the Drive Performance Control button positioning by the gearbox. I often found myself ending up in Sport+ rather than Sport when trying not to look away from the road. The programmable M buttons on the M5 are much better to use.

I disliked these admittedly minor issues so much that I blind ordered an LCI M5 with CP (obviously I didn't learn from the last time). This time, however, I'm happy with the car with the exception of the cold temp traction on the PSS tyres.

This is my second M car. I had an E46 many years ago when, in relative terms, depreciation wasn't an issue. As I was px'ing the 535d, I got an OK discount on the M5 and added MPE post delivery. If I decide to px out of the M5 after 3 years, I'm predicting a £50K hit in depreciation alone, hence, why I'm planning on extending the warranty and keeping hold of it for a good few years. It may sound illogical, but I'd rather add a second car than PX this one.

As you know, the 313bhp diesel is a remarkable bend of economy and performance - more than adequate for the UK. It is also exceptionally refined in the F10. The only time I could hear distant diesel clatter was at idle or very low speeds (<5mph).

I find it strange that a few members are looking to move from 335d to M5. If is wasn't for the refinement & cabin quality look & feel I'd be looking a jumping the other way! Given the F30 refinement issues, my ideal BMW would be the M550d xdrive in RHD with a M5 CP chassis. As there's no such thing, next up for me would be the X5 M50d (I know - apples & oranges + I would try all the chassis options this time), however, for the time being I'll stick with the M5 as I'm fortunate to be able to minimise winter driving.

On the discount front I was at the dealer yesterday and they offered £12k off an in stock car with the 0% and threw in the performance grills for free.

Plenty of deals to be had near or at month end.

I've been a long time lurker of this forum and am getting closer to buying a new m5

I was looking at some AUC cars but keep reading the massive discounts and 0% and maybe it will work out better to buy new..?

Option wise I'm not too fussy or colour tbh just don't want black.
Upgraded sound system and the multifunctional seats are prob my only preference.

Am presuming making calls to a handful of dealers may well be worth my while?
15k off and 0% would be a good target to try and achieve.. Just how possible that is I dont know

I got mine in May, got £12k off and 0% on a car I speccd myself

That was from my local dealer, who begrudgingly matched the Peter Vardy offer

£7k deposit
£750 per month for 4 years. Approx £100 of that per month is optional extras

They did have a demo one, but with their used cars apr's it was way way more per month

Unless you buy an early one you may as well buy new IMO

Great choice, love the Singapore grey and silverstone leather. That could be my choice or red leather.....

Also tempted by the individual pearl white and red leather.

Though there was a lovely one behind me a month or so ago in like a browny bronze and that looked stunning.... Not sure what colour that was, can only think it's the champagne Quartz as some Google pics look like it but some look a lot lighter and pearly green colour which is miles out....
