Once we receive the ECU and program it, we will ship it back to you via the method you select at checkout. This requires the ECU to be mailed in to us to be benched flashed. Bench flashing requires the ECU to be opened. We DO NOT solder or modify your board in any way. Using a electrical contact pins, we tie into the boards programming mode to read and write the file. We do store your stock file if you ever want to revert. Because the ECU must be removed and opened, if you are concerned with warranty, you may want to speak with your dealership. Removing the ECU takes about 20 mins depending on the vehicle. With the VR Tuned ECU Flash, basic bolt-on performance parts will not require a retune of your ECU. We are able to do tunes that will allow you to run catless downpipes and raise the VMax aka speed limiter. If you add higher octane fuel, the ECU will adjust accordingly. Anytime you add higher octane, the fuel will burn slower providing your vehicle with improved performance. We never recommend using leaded gas such as C16 as this will destroy your O2 sensors and catalytic converters. Further custom tuning is available with provided dyno sheets or datalogging. The BMW E60 M5 use to have a V10 and was a massive gas guzzler. Tuning these engines was easy but the high strung engine was pretty limited. There are 2 main issues with tuning these newer BMW vehicles. The manufactures have gotten very particular about having their ECUs accessed to be tuned. These "anti tuning" features make it hard to read and write the ECU via the OBDII port. Some ECUs can be removed and flashed on the bench once the case is open. This is an immediate flag to the dealer which ultimately will void your power train warranty if a situation arose. This is where the VR Tuned Tuning Box Kits come into play over the competition.
