M5 sent diagnostics to dealer automatically

I got a call from the dealer saying the M5 had sent some error codes straight to the dealer.
Definitely do not want that.

Anyone have that happen to them?
I want to turn that off ASAP. I have the coding cable but no sure where to look.

It's part of BMW's Teleservice (http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/ser...&article=index)

I believe you can disable it via iDrive (don't have the manual/car so can't check right now)
Otherwise you can always call BMW NA and have the service disabled.

Definitely interested in the DIY to disable this - should be a sticky.

I'd like to see the contractual language I signed that permits this (sure it's buried in there somewhere).

X2. Not a good thing for the enthusiast in most of the forum members. I agree that the "Big Brother" connection needs to cut.

Would be cool if you coulda disable it via iDrive. I'll ask my Service Advisor how to do this. She should be able to find out for me. I'm taking her out for her birthday this weekend. I'll ask her then.

What happens when you switch dealers?

I usually have my car serviced at a dealer other than where I bought. So which dealer gets the info stream: original selling dealer, last dealer who serviced the car, both?

I hear there are drones monitoring our every move when driving

Same here. The dealer where I live got the Info. They did the post break in inspection.
Hate them with a passion.

Sort of on the fence with this. I know my car has the capability and it doesn't really bother me. In fact, if the car can be proactive and save me time it's all the better. I'd rather get to the dealer and have them know exactly what's wrong than sit and wait for the service writer to translate my words into notes that never get read anyways and always come back as "cannot duplicate customer concern."

If you're not doing anything you shouldn't be doing to your car, what's the big deal? If you're trying to hide that you're a lousy driver (sadly most M car owners I know are, fwiw) and are hooning the shit out of your car and want BMW to service it under warranty, than shame on you.

If you're occasionally free spirited and operate the vehicle within the parameters BMW intended, great! Don't worry about it and consider it a feature to help preserve your experience.

No garage queens here. They are driven as Intended.
Had it on the Dyno the day after it was bought.
I don't trust the dealer here at all. Always gives me the wrong oil or parts and the techs there suck and are pretentious. I always have to do the leg work to show them what the correct part or way of doing things are.
On top of all that , they joy ride cars as well

Which dealer? Where are in FL are you? I grew up in South Florida. Used to exclusively buy from Braman, but now my family gives business to Vista and I think my dad services the family cars at Lauderdale Imports.

Seems like you just need to find a better dealer. I'd also convey your concerns to BMW of North America. It's worth the time to document issues. It makes it better for everybody in the end.

Tallahassee.
But id Rather not make it habit to have to travel for simple issues.
They are getting better and do try to make the customer happy but the problem is with their techs.

Found numerous problems with the work they did on my 335. I only took it there for recall work , I did everything else myself.

Hopefully wont have as many issues with the m5 as the 335.

Once your BMW assist account is set up, you can either call them or create an account on BMWNA and enter the info yourself. I have a purchase dealership and a totally different one for service........Phil
