M5 with 800hp/1000Nm... SimonMotorSports of Dubai

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Franz Simon, previously one of the brains behind the Manhart Racing M5, left MHR a while ago to set up his own business in Dubai.

As some of you might know, I visited Manhart last year and had a fantastic tour of their facilities with Franz going out of his way to accomodate me and my son. We got to ride and drive the MHR M5 on the Autobahn. Since then I have been in touch now and then with Franz and I have followed his new adventure in Dubai.

Here is one of his new creations, under the SMS (Simon Motor Sport) company. A M5 with a claimed 800hp and 1000Nm!!! Some might notice that the car looks familiar I believe it is one of our Dutch members car

Enjoy

I saw this earlier today and forgot to share it. So thanks for posting!

I would love to see this car and ride in it and race it against my car to see the difference. He would had to crack the encryption or something methinks.

Also for anyone who's ever owned a car close to 800hp or more, here in the states I've realized it's really pointless unless you live somewhere with no cops, no traffic and wide open roads. The F10 M5 with stock power and torque were plenty even when I have been able to really push the car past 150mph. 800hp would be fun in very very short bursts, say like 0.5 seconds each time. Not worth it for me anymore, but this is just my opinion.

Simon Motorsport took the initiative about a month ago to direct-message me on this forum when I was asking about a catted downpipe that does not cause CEL. They assured me that their downpipes (made by them) do not cause CEL and they have a number of satisfied clients. I also called Simon Motorsport and they confirmed the same.

Can anybody confirm this ? Anybody on the forum have a Simon downpipe installed ?

This is a development of the press tune with added boost control via extra module I believe.

Hey, long time

Since we are not a Forum Sponsor i am not sure how much information i am allowed to give.

To cut things short, we do NOT use a Pressfile. The press file is based on an elder software stand and creates problems like Drivetrain error etc (well known here on the forums and several threads for that) especially on newer cars or with cars that had a Software update. To be precise anything after 08/2013. Some people who used to offer the Pressfile do not offer them anymore due to these problems. At the end it is a pressfile that was never intended to be daily used.. Apart from that its not that good

We are using a different software, then we add our own piggyback as in the Software we have limitations with boost. Our Piggyback is adjustable with Software, but unlike other adjustable on the Unit itself with a so called Jumper. Our Piggybacks also look quiet different, its a small black box with a metal housing.

What we are using for maximum Power is the following

- OBD Flash
- Piggyback
- DCT Flash via OBD to remove torque limitations
- Our Custom Catless Downipes
- Full iPE Exhaust

Hope that helps and i hope i did not violate any forum rules

Did you change anything in DCT? How can DCT tolerate 1000 N-M when it's rated to 700 N-M?
And how much is the Wheel HP? I'm trying to understand the drive train loss.
Thanks

Is this the same engine as the upcoming X5 M?

Would be more awesome to see an AWD platform out that power down!

As Jeremy Clarkson said when testing the F12 Ferrari: too much power !! There is such a thing. I think 500-600 is the perfect range for a sick fast car that is still exploitable and fun to drive and doesn't want to kill you every time you think about touching the throttle !!

It's probably a limit to how much power really is needed in most situations. If you drive regularly on the Autobahn though, I suspect this M5 is a beast from 100MPH and above
