Congratulations. Very few have driven such a broad array of geographies in such a superb car in just one trip. Your photos are fantastic. I think my favorite part was your drive up the West coast and I would love to do that part one day.

What was your favorite section of the trip?

I have to say I think my favorite section of the trip was when I was on the 287 in Montana at dusk. The road was absolutely incredible and there was not a soul for a 100 miles. I could literally do anything I wanted with my M5. I have had very few moments in my life that perfectly describe the feeling just as when James Hunt says in the movie Rush, "The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel." I pushed my M5 hard on the 287 that night and it was scary and exilhirating at the same time. I'll never forget it.

Spectacular write up - thanks for doing this! And congrats for surviving! Admittedly haven't read every word yet...sorry if it's already been mentioned...but what's your loadout for camera gear?
Those shots look great!

What a journey man! Great pics as well. Who did you end up with servicing the M...BMW of Alexandria? If you have no plans this Saturday AM, I plan on hitting up Katies Cars and Coffee at Great Falls. Would love to hear that exhaust in person.

Bro! Epic trip and pics! Don't forget to mention on the homepage that you and I ran into each other on our respective cross country trips!!

You = West to East
Me = East to West

Bimmerpost Golden Spike laid in Yellowstone National Park! LOL.

I nominated this thread for Bimmerpost homepage and facebook homepage. I hope all is well in DC!

I literally spent 45 minutes throughly looking through the pics and the story. Still trying to comprehend how profoundly beautiful some of the scenery is, I was in awe the whole time. I caught myself saying "holy sh*t whoa" more than a dozen times lol. Being stuck in Cali I keep forgetting the rest of the US has some National Geographic worthy sites. I wish I had the patience to do such a trip, but you got my inspiration up! 3 of my favorite pics, which were very hard to choose:

I'd love a run on this highway

Or flog it on this one

Very moving picture right here. Literally captures the essence of what an Ultimate Driving Machine is.

All I have is a GoPro1, a GoPro2, and my Nikon D3200. The Nikon is a great camera and unfortunately I had to take most of the pictures without getting to change any of the settings for better shots. So mostly I had it on Auto Mode, since most of the times I got out to take pictures was random and spur of the moment. Still, I like it a lot.

Oh also some of these shots are with my iPhone5.
