LED Interior lighting

I asked the question a couple of weeks back and got little feedback.... then I remembered the site that I have gone to in the past for my other BMW's.

No association with them, but ECS Tuning has a great a straightforward package for replacing all of the OEM bulbs in the interior. Just swapped mine tonight and it looks great.

One tip that I have learned in the past is to leave the vanity mirrors stock as the color temperature of the white LED's is not pleasing for your girlfriend/fiance/wife to do their makeup!

I've had the BMW kit installed since I took delivery back in September. I actually used 2, plus some high quality aftermarket LEDs, to remove every bulb in the interior.

Some pics:

Guys, this is a no-brainer mod... worth every penny. These cars should come from the factory with LED's in the interior.

Does this change the lighting under the door trim? If so, could you please post a pic at night? Thx!

here's the count:
1 for each door = 4
foot well front = 2
front reading (map lights) = 2
rear reading (map lights) = 2
Main front overhead light = 1

Trunk = 1 (this is a different type of socket)
Front vanity mirror lights = 4 (2 driver/2 passenger - also a different type of socket)

Correct. The door, overhead, glove box, trunk lid, and footwell lights all use the same type of bulb and socket. The vanity mirror lights use a miniature bulb and the trunk interior uses a festoon bulb.

The 6 series does (I believe) as does the new F30 with Lighting Package. Angers me to no end that the 5 gets shafted.

I just changed my lights... I used the set from ECS Tuning that was referenced by avi8tir in his first post. It's a very easy activity... the instructions on the website are spot-on, except for the rear dome/ceiling lights. The set on the ECS Tuning website is for the F10 5-series, which has 3 rear dome/ceiling lights, whereas the F10 M5 only has 2. So you will have one extra LED bulb leftover. But nonetheless, the kit is really good because it has the right type of bulb for all the interior and trunk bulbs. There were 18 total bulbs that were replaced... the kit came with 19.

Thanks avi8tir for the recommendation.
