Storage lock

Has anyone ever thought of adding a lock to the storage compartment on the drivers side?

Ok, really? Need some help here. I want to lock the storage compartment on the drivers side so I can carry a 9mm in there. According to Texas law, you can carry as long as it's in a locked box. So, any thoughts on how to put a lock on it? Thanks in advance.

The center console will qualify.
'14 M/Y has a much larger center console storage area than '13.

The trunk always qualifies, and can always be locked via the center console switch.

It is annoying that the glove doesn't have a lock. It's almost like they just forgot..

I could, but I wanted to use the compartment further away from the kids.

From what I've read of the MPA, the handgun only has to be concealed or out of plain view while in the vehicle. I can't find where it says it has to be locked. Having said that, it's probably smart to have it locked. It would be really cool if you could integrate a biometric scanner or finger tip combo lock in there.

But like boots said, probably better just to get a CHL.

Mike you still could be arrested for ccw. Not worth it. If you want to carry in your vehicle all the time, go get your license.

are you often being threatened or in a situation when you might need your gun quickly when driving around? is carjacking a problem over in Houston?

No its not that we have more or less problems here in town, he just wants to be protected when he goes somewhere. But as I stated for anyone in their own state get your ccw license if you want to carry/transport. You can go here to there w/ them. Just be able to explain it.

I don't have a '14, I have a '13.

I just know that the '14 center console storage is greatly increased. I think it's double or almost triple the amount of space.

I don't believe my 2014 is any bigger than the 2013s. It is still quite small.

I just happen to have a red training piece in my squadron to show the size. This is a perfect replica in size to a Beretta 92FS 9 mm. No wait it would fit in either compartment.

Awesome pics man, thanks. My carry piece is much smaller though. It would actually fit in the center console, just wouldn't be able to put anything else in there.
