Catless vs HFC downpipes

Hi
Looking for some advice.
My car is currently fitted with a catless downpipe. I was looking for a particular spec M5 and found it but with this DP....
It stinks, particularly when cold. It's also too loud for me at WOT (fine when not).

Has anyone moved from Catless to HFC. Did it make a difference in terms of noise and smell?

Then HFC, which one? i am leaning towards EVOLUTION RACEWERKS with thermal coat?
Any one gone in this direction before?

Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve-
One of my other cars was catless for a period of time and the smell got to me so I ended up putting cats back on. My F10 is my daily driver and had stock downpipes on it when I purchased it. I installed high flow cats and have been extremely happy. Performance, smell, and sound are good. I went with a downpipe that appears to be off the market now. It is made by AMS and has GESI cats which are high quality. It was pretty expensive, but it has served me well. Good luck!

Catted are quieter and have a more refined sound. I prefer the sound of the high-flow catted downpipes over catless.

Evolution Racewerks are made in the US; they are an excellent choice, and I strongly recommend them.

I would not spend money on thermal coating unless the car spends considerable time on the track. If this is a street car, get the brushed finish.

I have the AMS HFC as well and really like the HFC over the catless setup. I have the Akropovic Ti exhaust and the sound is perfect with no droning.
