Help with tints

I am bringing my car into the Art of Tint next week and trying to decinde on which film to use. I had the Huper Optik ceramic tint on my E60 - also installed by Tom at the Art of Tint. Tom says he likes the Formula One Pinnacle better than the HO now - less shiny and easier to work with. but he also likes the Prestige PhotSync which actually darkens a bit inthe sune (from 55 to 45) and he says the hear reduction quality is better.

Not a huge price difference ($400 vs $600), so that is not a factor. Anybody have any experiece with either of both of these two films?

I use Photosync and like it a lot. The key with heat reduction is the windshield so make sure you also do the windshield. I use Photosync 75 on the windshield.

Tom is great, had my car done there week before last with Photosync 55 on all windows, and Llumar 80 on windshield. I was disappointed that the car still gets really hot while parked in the sun but I suspect my expectations were too higg, expecting it to stay a little cooler. Main benefit is not feeling the heat while driving I guess. Nevertheless, Tom and his crew do excellent work and would go back without hesitation.
I feared that it would be too dark but windows and windshield are just right for my taste.

Can you post a picture from a different angle? I may be heading there (Art of Tint) soon as well. Trying to understand how dark 55 really is and if the blue hue is that obvious or fairly subtle.

Awesome! Thanks

Drew, I've had Huper 40% on my E60 M5 and thought it was great. As others mention, I would go with the photo sync for its new technology/reputation and the change in tint level as sunshine/ light changes. Seems like it would be cool to have.

Thanks all for the input. I am going to go with the photosync 55/45 unless my eye doc will give me a medical letter this week, in which case I will go a bit darker.

A few more after nice bath... Not easy photographing black car. I'm color blind but can notice a little bluish tint in last photo.

Stealth, I know you have Photosync 75 on your windshield... Can you tell me how hot your dash gets and can you feel the heat if you hold your hand a half inch from windshield while in the sun?

I'm trying to figure out if the Llumar 80 on my windshield is causing more heat than I would like to enter my car.

Haha thanks Phil, believe me I'm still strongly considering it! Just turned the magic 1200 miles. By the time you get your car I should be ready for a change...

wow! love it. i don't think i've ever seen your build - you have great taste! that shade of tint works well too. i am also considering Art of Tint to get mine done when it gets in…can't wait to see how DrewM5's look...

have you considered the 601's in black?

Thanks for the kind words. 601s in black would be sweet. However, if I go black I'd go with OEM black forged 343Ms.
Tom at the Art of Tint can't be beat. He's not happy with anything less than perfection.

...Although it would be very nice to paint gray part of 601Ms black similar to what they are doing on the anniversary model.

The one and only pic I saw of 601s in black made them look small but it was on a M6 GC so anything looks small lol. I am probably going to plastidip my 601's either dark grey or black to see if I like the look then may have them powder coated if I decide I like it. I just really have no where to do it myself and need to find a reputable shop

Having it done a week from Saturday. Hopefully you guys can join us for dinner on June 4th when RPIM5 comes into town and you can see it in person. Right now, we are looking for a good spot in Yonkers or somewhere else in lower Westchester where we have some good space to park and then something decent to eat.

yeah, that sounds awesome, thanks - wish I could - maybe the next meet up/dinner. my car is on the Tongala and left the South Hampton port about an hour ago. its expected to get to NY/NJ on 5/29, so if all goes well i'd have it closer to mid June.
