BMW M5 (F10) Production Data

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Here is a color and upholstery breakdown for the F10 M5 I put together.

FV93 - US/Canadian model
FV91 - RoW LHD model
FV92 - RoW RHD model

Production date breakdown has two columns for the NA-spec model. Left column is a breakdown by model year, right column by production year.

You can find additional info at BMW M Registry. Don't forget to add your M to the registry

Nice... so over 19.5k production cars, about 41% for North America, 26% as RHD and 33% rest of the world... That's why we can get the car in US with 10-20% discount

Ahh thanks, missed that. 577 out of 8088, compared to 1364 out of 9491 for the E60 generation.

7% compare to 14% means the demand for MT is getting less (half); however I believe for big and heavy cars like M5/M6 DCT is the best option. MT for M2/M3/M4 is great BTW unless you want to track your car and are looking for better laptime.

This is the info I have been waiting for. Great job!

It is highly interesting to note a few things.

First, the horrible residual values on the 2013 Model Year US/Canadian F10 M5's. Like I have said for years they flooded the market in that model year, but we did have a clue because of the low Residual Values on leases for that model year.

Second, my personal M5, has taken the hardest hit on resale value being that it is not only a 2013 model year but also has the most common color of Black Sapphire Metallic and a Black Interior. I did get the Piano Black Trim but it doesn't count for much. For these reasons, I just never believed that it would be worth it to sell the car, too much value has been lost over the years. Luckily , for me and all of us, the F10 M5 is a much better engineered vehicle than the E60 M5 and has been supremely reliable, even after 50,000 miles.

Third, kind of surprising to see the final production numbers are so closely matched to both the E60 M5 and the E39 M5. About 20,000 for each generation. I think that it is safe to say that the F90 M5 generation will also have about 20,000 units produced with the first model years taking the biggest hit in depreciation once again. I have learned my lesson and will not be purchasing another M5 when it first comes out. The only reasons why I did purchase the new F10 M5 when it was first introduced to market is because I had a unique opportunity to do Euro Delivery with it and I was one of the lucky few who managed to score 17% off of MSRP back in 2012 when a large group of us did Euro Delivery together, or in other words we got the ED Invoice Pricing. So my losses in depreciation weren't as bad as they could have been because of the once in a lifetime deal I got on the car. I can guarantee that no one will get ED Invoice pricing when the F90 M5 comes out next year either. So if I do decide to pick up a new F90 M5 I will be waiting until the LCI model year comes out with the Competition Package.

In the meantime I am never selling my F10 M5 and will continue to modify it, upgrade it, and have fun with it and enjoy having no car payment for many years.

I wonder what the percentage is of 6mt M3 and M4 for the current generation. I suspect that the E60 wouldn't have been as high if they had a decent gearbox - SMG was rubbish!

I wonder how many Tanzanite cars were built prior to it become an individual color. Before 2015 it was not listed as an individual color but as a special paint. My build sheet lists it as a 490 code and since Cohiba was discontinued for 2014 interior shows up as Z1XX .

FV93 - 2
FV91 - 2

Order numbers are irrelevant. There is no such thing. BMW simply runs out of the VIN range and starts a new one somewhere else.

The US version is FV93, not FV9C. Yes, BMW uses FV9C in the VIN, but that is not really the model code. C is the 3rd letter of the alphabet, so in this case C = 3. BMW started using letters from MY2010 to fix the model year code conflict.

Now consider how few countries are RHD
26% is a huge number for so few countries

We do love M5 around here

Would love to see a breakdown between the UK, South Africa and Australia
Would also love a breakdown between RHD and LHD delivered to Japan since they receive both.

Few but rich and that's the point. Basically Cars are a lot cheaper in US compare to their price in Europe or other countries and on top of that we always have great deals here. I got my M6 17% off MSRP , 15% for M4 and 10% for 650i... and I know there are people got even better deal for their M cars...

I don't know about the actual percentage of current M3/M4 but there is a poll thread asking people and the MT is the winner.... 1021 vs 911 (53% vs 47%)...http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=916402
For sure the current production has a lot more DCT but I bet the percentage of manual in M3/M4 world is a lot more than 7% (M5)...and trust me MT on this car is fantastic especially with great gear ratios...

UK alone is responsible for 60% of the RHD cars.

That result is heavily skewed by the current audience. Enthusiast tend to lean towards manuals in much higher numbers than general public. Those numbers are nowhere near the reality.

Well my point was the number of manual in M3/M4 is much higher than M5/M6.
For example at the total of 66k E9x M3 , about 22k (33%)of them were manual
http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=50#2
I would expect at least 25-30% of the current generation of M3/M4 have MT

Lets that say that NA-spec F82's MT take rate is lower than your estimate.

I know you were talking about the total. The reason why I brought up only the NA-spec F82 has the highest manual transmission take rate. Once you add F80 and other markets, the percentage will go even lower.

Compare the manual transmission take rate on the E90 M3, E93 and E92 M3 EU vs NA.

I thought Estoril Blue II was a color available at least early on, but I don't see it in the list?
