Those dyno numbers are the lowest I've seen recorded yet. Throughout the past year or so there have been many theories about how BMW arrives at its final hp/torque figures but these numbers don't seem to fit any of those paradigms. Perhaps you're right and all the others are bloated. From a common sense perspective, and my butt dyno, I'd say that's too low and it accounts for too much loss for such an efficient drive train and transmission. Just an observation after 5k miles of ownership...

This is great news. I am happy to see a local shop working on the M5. Instead of getting a GTR I am going to pull the trigger on a M6 instead.

Looking forward to see what AA comes out with in the end on the M5

Still using your kit on my E46. Not a single problem in the last 4 years and I cannot wait to see what your plans with the M5 are.

Instead of saying one dyno puts out "real" numbers and another type doesn't maybe you just need to factor that into the drivetrain loss %. Just like when I have dynoed on a Dynopack I have seen as much as 8% higher numbers than on a Dynojet dyno. So if the whp on a Dynojet is 500whp ...you will likely see 540whp on a Dynapack and 470whp on some Mustang dynos (some Mustang dynos I have seen read as high or higher than Dynojet). So what may be 13% drivetrain loss on a Dynojet is 6% on a Dynapack and 18% drivetrain loss on the Mustang dyno. All three dynos would come to the same (round about) 575hp at the crank.

Maybe some shops like the "bigger" #s from a Dynojet or maybe it seems to be more popular and universally accepted but not necessarily better (think PCs vs Apple).
