Now that we got that out of the way, we can go back to debating if the 1M, X6M, X5M, et al are "real ///M cars" and if DCT is > 6MT

No M3 till late 2013, that works for me...
At the earliest. IMHO, it would be unwise to make any plans that assume you will be able to take delivery of one before 2014.

Not so fast. The I6 vs. V6 debate for the M3/M4 still has a whole lot of life left in it. For that matter the 3 vs. 4 and M3 vs. M4 debates for the coupe/cab are also far from over.

(But anyone not in denial knows it's going to be an I6 M4 )

X5M is not built to compare against your M3, it's built to compare, and crush, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes GL63 AMG.
Exactly that. While some purists may not approve of the X5M and X6M, the sales can't be ignored. It was the same story with Porsche when the Cayenne came out. The purists were up in arms, but Cayenne sales brought in the cash to keep numerous 911 variants going. If sales of the M SAV's help bring in funding for other M models, I'm all for it.

It's confirmed to be a future option. Only question is when it becomes available, that's all.

F10 M5 M Carbon Ceramic Option code confirmed as "2NK": http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577084

And it's been spotted multiple times being tested in F10 M5 prototypes: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533798

great information. i'm liking that he doesn't have any justifications for awd. More proof it's not necessary for the street.

I'm sure they'll offer it but make it a 10k option.

Great up-coming M Products
I'm speaking here also about the special "d" models
It's clear that if they sell more they have more money for R&D so better and better products
