Happy that making a change just can not decide which combination of the teo to go.

Never seen Singapore grey in the flash though. But I always have loved black or near to black cars.
Comments appreciated
SG is a very classy and nice color on M5/M6. As far as interior, I think SO makes it even more attractive.

I considered the M4, but... Personally(when modded) it sounds like a 335, doesn't do "it" for me...? Whereas the previous M3 was packing a N/A V8, and it was more raw.

Recently made the decision to move to a F10 M5 Competition Pack (DCT). It was supposed to replace my E90 M3, but instead, I kept the M3 and added the M5. I just couldn't let the M3 go. It may very well be mainly because it is 6MT, and it's a more engaging drive, but I feel like there are other contributing factors.

The two are very different cars. The M3 is nimble, noisy, and makes you work for proper power delivery. The M5 is a bigger car, and it feels like it. But it ramps up the luxury by a considerable measure. And the power is otherworldly. It is a fantastic balance of speed and luxury. It is much less visceral than the E90, but as a DD it is a pleasure.

I test drove an F80 M3 prior to my decision to get the M5. It was a great car, but (for the money) it didn't feel like enough of a departure from my E90, which it would have replaced. And I couldn't get over how badly it sounded. The M5 is muted, due to the turbos, but it really sounds great. If the size of the car doesn't deter you, I think that you will be happy with the upgrade to the M5. But you may have those moments of missing your M3...

[In reference to Singapore Grey, that's the color I bought. It is a truly classy color. Sometimes a hint of green, sometimes a hint of blue (goes well with the blue calipers), yet always a beautiful metallic grey. It's the most common compliment I receive of the car.]

Hmmm good key points, but after having two identical E92 M3's, I doubt I'll be missing the M3 anytime soon... Rather I catch myself missing my stage 3 Subaru STi, which was an absolute blast to drive, but of course does not even compare to the M3 in any way although in two different classes. Thanks for the input though, I guess after some real seat time in the M5 will be convincing enough in my decision.

I contemplated an M5 for a long time and after spending some time in the M5, I concluded that a M4 was more my style hence why my M4 is on order. I love the M5 power delivery, but it is just too heavy and too big to drive the way I want. I had an E70 x5M for a couple of years (not the same I know) and after the initial excitement wore off, I got tired of it. It was too big, too luxurious and I only drove it when I took long trips (more than an hour). Every other time I picked my E92 M3 over the x5M. I wanted to want the M5, but the M4 just fits better for my driving preference. Given that you are ruminating over your departed STI tells me that the M5 might not be the way to go. The M5 is the car to get when you want luxury first and fun second. Is that you?

This is true, I mean I grew bored of my Lexus GS several years back right away, then again as I have mentioned before a GS and M5 is no real world comparison... But safe to assume that full blown luxury isn't my cup of tea but have never had a vehicle like an M5 if that makes sense... I've had everything from modified Honda's in my younger days, a lifted truck, bagged GS, stage 3 STi, and now on my second M3, so I've experienced a diverse amount of vehicles... Tough to choose...

I never go in "married" to just one choice. The m4 and m5 are both great cars so for me it would boil down to which one I could get the better deal or lease.

I get BMW employee lease deals, it's pretty fantastic lol... Either way it'll be a win.

Curious-

Why not an m6 coupe if you want a larger size car+all the power of an m5? Looks department it's much less of a sleeper than the m5 (unless that's a pro factor for you)

Even with an employee deal, the M6 is outta my price range, at least I'm not comfortable spending that much on a lease per say, hahaha.

After 1 1/2 years with my M5 I must say it was fun. The power is pretty nice for such a big car and luxury and creature comforts. However, that being said I want to try something that gives me more driving pleasure and feedback. I actually liked driving the new M3 and how nimble it is, however just can not stand that exhaust sound. Some people that moved from E9x to a F10 M5 loved it while others regretted it. Good luck man!

I went from e63 m6 to e92 m3 and now in the f10 m5. I find the m5 more fun for me.

Congrats! I went from an Evolve SC'd E9X M3 to the F10 M5 (also had the E60 M5) and so far the F10 M5 is exceeding all expectations so far.

Dynamically the M3 was better on country lanes but the M5 handles its weight well for such a big car.

OP, I had the M5 together with my E92 M3 for 2 years and I would say they don't compare. U only compare them if u only want to have 1 car. I loved the M3, I still do! It had to make way for something else. The M5 is an excellent DD and impossible to beat at this price point. Very hard for me to move away from it as it does it job so well. Contemplating X6M as a replacement...

If you think about it, this is probably the wrong way to ask the question.

For most owners there is a strong tendency towards favoring the car you currently own. Certainly not for everyone, but for most people.

If you want good feedback, ask people who have owned or driven both but have moved on to something else.

Having quality seat time in both cars, I think the comment above was highly accurate.... the M5 is the car for someone who wants luxury first and fun second. The comfort level in the F10 is amazing.

I too have and E90 M3 and then added an F10 M5 and would agree with most of the prior posts.

I will add that when I got a chance to get a 15 991 GT3 I let the M5 go! That being said, if I had the opportunity for a really good lease deal it would be very tempting to do it again. Especially if they ever add the 30 Jahre tune!

I think I will have the E90 forever!
