New Bel Stir Plus - need 12V switched wire color
Hi all,
So I finally pulled the trigger and picked up the STiR Plus and ALP set up. The problem Im having is that Im getting "check receiver wiring" message which could be due to the start stop function. Can someone tell me what color wire I should tap into around the drivers area that is a 12V switched source that is more stable? Thanks! |

How often do you get the check receiver wiring message?
In my experience this is a problem with the escort device. It does happen from time to time. Not that common though. If it occurs once during every drive, you probably have a faulty CPU or a faulty receiver. You should send both in for warranty. If it is happening in sync with start-stop then thats a different story.

I used to get that warning. BelStir techs are worthless. After examining the receiver I found that the area where the wire goes into the back of the receiver is somewhat open and gets moisture in there. Just silicone the "port" area and you should be good. I have not had that warning since. Before I did the silicon I could even see an exposed wire. At least, this worked for me. YMMV but just check the back and make sure it's sealed good.
And my warning only occurred during startup. It worked fine even after warning just got real annoying to get the message! |

Latest- I contacted tech support and they said they are having problems with the start stop function and they indicated that I should check the power source. So I changed the 12V switched power to tie into the cigarette lighter wire that's under the glove box. Now, when you unlock the car the radar gets powered but when I start the car the message comes on. When the start stop feature comes on I don't get the message.
With the previous 12V switched wire I was using, the detector would power on a start up but when the start stop function came on I would get the message again. I'm thinking it has to do with getting a constant 12V switched power wire that maintains 12V's even during the start stop function. Does anyone know which 12V switched wire they used or a good fuse to tap into? Once I do this, then I'll know if its the receiver. One other Q - I have the ALP defense also, do I need to shut of laser detection on the STIR? I can barely hear the ALP beeps btw. Thanks! |
