2013 M5 - Extended Warranty?

Looking out for some advice from the M5 community. I have a 2013 F10 M5 with 42,000KM. In the Spring, I'll be out of Warranty based on being 4 years after my in-service date.

I have had issues here and there, minor things, but nothing huge so far. I can't think of another car I'd want to buy in the next year or two (I love my M5, and mileage is still low). The dealer wants $6500CAD for 2 more years of warranty. Would you do it?

Which dealer sells this extended plan? 3k is nothing for peace of mind with this car. I've purchased factory extended warranties before from out-of-state dealers with other brands; should be able to do so with BMW right?

Just keep in mind, not all cars qualify for BMW warranties. And not all dealers have aftermarket warranties for M cars. Kinda hard to find. Grab your VIN and spam the finance managers to see what they have to offer. One car I was considering buying didn't qualify for an extended warranty because one of the services were done too late.

I tried the same and only 2 dealerships reached back to me. One quoted 40% higher than the other.

pricing and warranty availability depends on your vin and what the dealer has to offer. 40% higher may be due to different warranty companies.

i think finding a dealer who has easycare, fidelity, toyota (ccc vsa), or bmw (assurant) is key.

call the warranty companies, get a listing of dealers who sell those near you, then go to the dealership website, 'meet our staff', and email the finance manager. this finally got me some responses.

Did you get the BMW extended warranty or after market warranty? You named some aftermarket warranties.

I'm still looking for a car to buy and won't buy unless is it CPO or confirmed by a finance guy at my local dealership that he'll sell me a warranty. I'm leaning towards CPO but the Toyota one looks best (good coverage and date starts when you buy (e.g. I'll buy 4 years when the original 4 is almost up to give me 8 years total)).

Or just have them CPO the car for minimal cost (+-3k) and you get 6yr/100k. Then if you are going to keep it long term go with an aftermarket warranty which will cover you for an additional 4yr/48k at the time of signing the extended warranty.

So potentially you could have 10yr/148k warranty with the 2 combined.

Yup, but often the ones that aren't CPO can't be CPO'd because of late servicing and thus also not eligible for BMW warranty either. That's why I need to figure this out before I buy and not assume I can just buy a warranty later.

I intend on keeping long term with minimal miles so the 10 yr is my plan. Yup yup

That is true but also not entirely correct. A lot of times BMW dealers will not CPO a vehicle because they don't want to put the extra money into the vehicle which comes along with the CPO certification.

A lot of times as long as the vehicle is clean and the maintenance has been performed per specification you can ask the dealership to CPO the vehicle for you. It typically adds another 2500-3500 dollars to certify.

A lot of dealers in Northeast sell Continental Ultra Care warranty. Usually can get 4/100 for a bit less than BMW 2/100.
A lot of complaints on Continental, however some are due to the fact that wear and tear not covered.

yes of course, i ask every car i'm interested in if it can be CPO'd, that's how I know some don't qualify.
