For the past few weeks, BMW has been offering a $300 discount on the 2012 3 Series for scheduling a test drive through the app, but they've now expanded the promotion to include all BMW models.

The discounts are as follows:

$300 Off 3 Series, 1 Series, X1, X3 and Z4 (all trims, including M models)
$500 Off 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo and X5 (all trims, including M models)
$700 Off 7 Series, 6 Series, 6 Series Gran Coupe and X6 (all trims, including M models)

What you will receive is a voucher in the amounts listed above off the first payment on a new 2012 or 2013 BMW financed or leased through BMW Financial Services.

To receive your discount:

Step 1: Download The Ultimate Drive app (available on iPhone and Android).
Step 2: Use the app to schedule a test drive at your local BMW dealer.
Step 3: Confirm your test drive via the app to generate your voucher code and use it when ordering your new 2012/2013 BMW.

* This promotion ends July 31, 2012 and is available only to existing BMW Financial Services customers in the U.S.

So if I test drive a regular 5 series will that discount still apply to the M5? Or do you have to purchase the same model you test drive?

Also what if I have already placed my order?

I would think so too but I have not set up an account with BMW FS as this is my first BMW. The app requires a BMW FS account. Should I do this now or wait until all the financial info comes out?

In order to complete the process you need the last seven of your VIN to link to your existing BMW FS Account. I dont think you would qualify based on the first post which outlines the details and states, "...available only to existing BMW Financial Services customers..."

Yeah but for the new F10 M5, the dealer will give you a $500 discount for the App Voucher, but still charge you a $15,000 Mark Up on the M5.

It's not the dealer that provides the voucher, but BMWNA. You don't deal with the dealer with this discount.

Correct, the voucher does not come out of the dealer's pocket. However you do have to deal with them. The app requires you to put in your CA to confirm the test drive. Then you have to have your CA apply the voucher code to your order.

I think he meant that you can save $500 with this voucher but the individual dealer is marking up the car $15K so he/she feels like its a moot point

I wonder if we could still get this discount from BMW for those of us who are already BMW FS customers but only have a confirmed order for Euro Delivery for the F10 M5. I'll check it out soon.

Exactly, I was going to use the word moot too. Haha!

And I'd be willing to bet $10 bucks that someone can't find a dealer that is not marking up the F10 M5 for U.S. Delivery by thousands of dollars right now. But hey $500 bucks is $500 bucks I guess.

You should be able to get the discount even if you have the confirmed order for ED for the M5. The actual BMW FS documents havent been executed since no MF/APR and Residual have been published. Once they publish, expected on 7/10, then dealers will start being able to finalize the financial side of the order. Right now everyone, who has an ED order confirmed for pickup, should be approved by BMW FS with the regional rate. Once the final rates are released the finance manager will finalize based on any sales support that BMW FS is offering for the vehicle. If sales support is being offered the dealer has the right to markup the "buy rate" of the MF by at most .0004. If there is no sales support then the dealer can markup the "buy rate" by X. In speaking to my dealer today he told me that he will not being marking up the "buy rate".

Thanks but I am just a newbie who asks my dealer a lot of questions. I am sure my dealer is just as anxious to get this finalized so he can get me to stop asking questions all day every day. My CA is awesome so enjoys when there is a buyer who is as into the process as he is for the M cars.

I would assume most people on this forum who can afford a M5 are fiscally smart. Doing the math just proves that if you really want the car try to get ED on the vehicle. The price of a plane ticket, a hotel, and food should be enough to warrant the time as well as the experience in Germany.

I am sure there are people who can't leave the country for work reasons but should be able to find a dealer who will work with them.

I appreciated the irony of RPiM5's original post. I was just clarifying Jason's comment that you do in fact need to work with our CA to apply the discount.
