Carbon brakes squeals like a pig. Anyone?

I've realized that the brake pads are rubbing the discs of my carbon ceramics all the time.

This means that the brakes become very hot when for example cruising the freeway or in town, and when I reach the traffic lights or traffic jams - the brakes squeals like a pig. This happens of course all the time in low speeds since the brake pads rub all the time, but it gets even worse when brakes are applied.

Spoke to BMW, they said they would take a look next week.
Meanwhile, I wonder if you guys have heard about this/experienced this before.

There's a features in the F10 M5:
To keep the brake system dry in wet conditions, the pads come into brief contact with the rotors (to keep them dry). This constantly happens without the driver realizing it, but only when it's raining.

It's possible that system is somehow malfunctioning.. maybe possible that the brake system clearances are off (rotors or pads) for one reason or another.

Defiantly need to bring it into the dealer and have the tech's diagnosis the problem.

I haven't heard of an issue like this before. Maybe another M5 CCB owner can chime in with a possible reason and/or solution.

This (brake drying) also ONLY happens when Auto wipers are active.

I dont know anything about those brakes, but i have a m5 which is 1 week old and makes noise when i brake. However i did some research and found numerous ppl on a tread saying its normal. Which i dont get why this on a $120k car. But my honda civic doesnt.

make sure you bed your brakes. avlnch did a nice write up on the technique.

I have the CCB on my M5 and yes, it squeals a lot even after brake bedding. I have done 2 rounds of bedding with the CCB, but the squealing comes back. I cured it with this.

All my Carbon Ceramic brakes have squealed, they are racing breaks! BMW should put out a disclaimer or some sort about this - absolutely unavoidable! I remember my 1st experience with CCB breaks, took them into the dealer to complain (911 days). Master mechanic looks at me and says "you don't drive it hard enough" - I was stone frozen. Then I went and picked up my buddy who races as a hobby, we went to a track and rocked them hard! Squealing stopped for a while and then came back. Then I would drive it hard again, and it would go away and come back.. its a process really.

So this is the result;

Had the car at BMW. They test drove the car and came to the conclusion that "Yes, it squeals but it's normal for CCB".

So, the car still squealed like a pig in traffic, and even up to about 50mph.

BMW said that it could be some sort of coating on the pads from killing the brakes and then not cooling them down properly though. So, what I did was that I went on a brake killing trip along some country roads - and really abused the brakes.

When they were properly abused I went onto the freeway and let them cool down for a couple of miles.
Voila, no problemo any more - except when I cause the same problem again.

Now I know how to fix it though.

Took mine to BMW, but they couldn't reproduce it so I'm left to live with it.

The wet weather brake drying function was deleted for M5s with carbon brakes - says so in the technical training manual. Reason being that the braking affect could be felt by the driver as a deceleration and was intrusive. It's only an occasional dab of the brakes, not a constant dragging so wouldn't cause the OP's constant brake noise
