sold the r8 and got an m5

so just a few days ago i went ahead and pulled the trigger on the f10 m5 , it was a toss up between selling my r8 v10 or gtr. The r8 is a beast and was fun to drive but i have 4 kids and needed another daily. Long story short i'm very happy with the m5 and all the features the r8 did not have.

It would be good to make the short story long and compare the ups and downs of the R8 and the M5 as you find it...

2011 r8 v10 lowered on h&r, straight pipped, 20" forgiato. pros it's an exotic and head tuner,
awd, loud very loud.
cons single clutch, 2seater, no trunk space, not as fast as the gtr or m5.

R8 V10 is not as fast as the M5? thats gotta be incorrect. maybe you just dont feel the torque on the R8 as much?

Garage List
The M5 might feel faster but R8 should take it.

I can't imagine the kids will want to ride in the GTR after the M5!

R8 V10 is a special car M5 is end of life and all over. Would have kept R8 if possible and got another DD. Bets of luck.

It is incorrect lol. Off the line no way, in a roll however stock vs stock an M5 will probably edge out a normal V10, but not the GT or plus models no way. I own a 6 speed regular V10 with intake, tune and exhaust and have rolled a few M6's and M5's that were stock with a pretty good gap 1-2 cars (around 600ish crank based on other people with same mods dyno's). But yes you feel the punch from torque a lot more in the M5. Both incredible machines, but if I had to choose and had no family and etc as the OP does I would never trade the R8, ever.. lol. Welcome to the forum OP! You'll find people here a lot more helpful, waaaayy more information for this car on this forum and extremely mod friendly compared to the R8.
