Importing car to Germany
Long shot anyone has experience with this... bringing the North American version of the beast back home.
I understand the car must be certified for the EU and some equipment must be modified. Anyone? Buying an equivalent M5 in Germany is a lot more expensive than shipping a US one there (if moving to Germany, no import taxes). |

M5 to Europe
Well, there are many questions you must ask yourself first of all.
Do you really want to do it ? Shipping the car to Germany is the least of the problems ( $1500 US that would be top rate, out of east coast ) Just in case you would want to bring it back ..... now that is a different story it would be double or triple the cost. From top of my head headlights are different, taillights are different, mirrors ( glass ) software, and there could be some body modifications bumpers ( rebars ). Now if that is the car you are going to be using over there ( lets just say you have a contract to work there ) then you might not have to do all of that switching over since eventually the car will have to leave EU, but if you want to have the car for any other reason, you will get raped by TUV, importing agencies, since you can afford the car you will pay taxes on it. This car in Europe over all is considered Uber alles, over here it is not as much. I do not understand your thinking on importing it there.... but what do I know |
