Do we need VIN to complete contract?

My M5 has been in status 150 for last two weeks. Still has not hit 151 when VIN is issued.

I am leaving for Germany on business trip next tuesday, and my salesman say that he can't work on a contract until there is a vin.

Is this the case? I don't want this to screw up because I don't have a contract.

Annoyed.

krispykreme it looks like you pickup on 9/12. My pickup date is 9/7 and my CA is fedexing my docs to me for sigs on 8/27. I have read elsewhere that some submit their docs as little as 5 days before pickup date to have the lease start tolling as late as possible.

EDIT: Sorry didn't see that you're leaving for your ED trip next tuesday, so please disregard my completely useless information.

You could give Your assistant power of attorney to sign the papers for you.

Or you could have him prepare the papers, sign them and fill in the VIN later.

I am going to have him prepare the paper work and fill the vin later.

Let see what happens. I don't know what is going on. BMWNA told me the car did indeed production on 8/2. But no status update after that. So strange.

They asked me to keep on calling see if i can get a vin before i leave for germany on wed.

I was told by my dealer that it is against BMW's policy to utilize a power of attorney. Don't know how true that is at all, but that's what I've been told.

Well they use a power of attorney to register the car for German road tax and for the export paperwork. So de facto they accept the use of power of attorney.

But I don't know if they accept it on the sales paperwork.

It could be a BMW FS deal in the US only.

That would make sense. I've never financed so never ran into that issue.

No vin yet for me, pickup is 9/14, not worried at all, just had my E60 clay barred and detailed, she is is so beautiful! If the new deal fell through (which it absolutely isn't) I would still be loving my current M----istress

I am going to buy the car outright. So i don't understand the vin thing, because they can fill in later?

Who knows- I am leaving on wed for business trip. urghh
