What I learned about my new M5 by reading the manual.

BIMMERPOST

In order learn, not really importance, except the first item.

We Got screxxx on the seats. No adjustable side support.

M view cannot be saved as part of a profile.

Profiles are a pain to set up. But being able to transport them by USB to my wife's 5 series GT or your M5 is cool!

Maximum cooling automatically kicks the seat ventilation to max no matter what level you have the seats set to.

Mirrors and washer nozzles are automatically heated.

The heated steering wheel buttons is never where I would have guessed.

Auto start / stop is much more controllable than I thought. Super easy to prevent it from working even for one stop.

You can just turn the radio on without anything else by just pressing the on / off switch.

Unlike the E60 you can start the F10 without selecting N.

This car has a Park!

Launch control, seems much better than the E60 and adjustable for more RPMs!

Interesting idea on "optimum shift points" in the heads up. Need to try that after 1200 miles.

Low speed assistant seems like a interesting idea in stop and go traffic.

Driver assistance systems are a bit much. Blind spot, collision warning and lane departure...... Well if I want to take a nap BMW has me covered.

I may never look at the EfficientDynamics data.........

The ability of the front camera to read speed and certain other traffic signs is a bit spooky.

Rear fog lamps per page 89 are nonexistent.

10 air bags... Hope I need none.

I was excited about the heading “Radar Sensors", but darn it just for blind spot detection.

Ok this is getting funny; the number of errors in the manual is more than you can count on your fingers.

Interesting different views possible with the backup camera. Including a bit of a surround view.

The auto climate feature seems useful to reset all items back to the driver settings after others leave your car.

The rear seats fold down... Not sure I will ever use that, or the ski bag!

Interesting cycle when you first turn the car on with RPMs. Starts at about 1K, then good to about 1 1/2 K finally after about 15 seconds to .8K

Break in period has comments beyond engine, including, brakes, tires, and clutch

Page 150...... Things to remember, “Always obey speed limits"

I skipped the pages on saving fuel, can someone read them for me?

Where in the world am I going to find 93 octane fuel?

The car has a crazy German version of Fix a Flat.

Why do I need oil other than 0W-30 for the Minnesota cold? That is about as thin of oil I have ever heard of!

That's it for book #1.. on to book two regarding the Nav, Entertainment and Communication systems.

Our Shell Stations down here in The Republic of Texas have 93 octane. Hopefully, I'll get to read mine in a couple weeks...fingers crossed. Per BMWUSA.com and the Wallenius & Wilhelmsen site...my car is still at port...probably making babies with a 1 series.

93 octane is available at all Chevron gas stations here in the southeast.

How do you engage park after stopping the car? Mine is sitting at the Brunswick port waiting on delivery and would like to know this before the car arrives.

93 octane is available everywhere in the Southeast. The only problem is that it cost $4 a gallon.

Clutch reset

Some people might know the 'secret clutch reset' on E60 and E63 by pulling shift paddles for 5 seconds while the car is running around 80 km/h and in neutral gear. I wonder if F10 has this, any ideas?

Also I remember someone mentioning that pulling and holding the downshift paddle while accelerating puts the optimal gear for fastest acceleration (like if you're on 5th gear and you pull and hold the downshift paddle it would throw it to 3rd gear).

If you floor the throttle and then pull the downshift paddle while in sequential shift mode the gearbox will jump directly to the optimum accelleration gear.

There's 94 octane available as an ethanol blend (up to 10%) at Husky stations in Canada. I think there's 94 at Sunoco stations too, but we don't have them here in Alberta.

stop the car. put the car to Neutral, put the hand brake on, press the start button to shut the car off, make sure your foot is off the break and press the start button again to engage P. that's it!

As for Park I agree but you do not need to select N first. Same for starting it, no need to be in N, like my E60
