"Mah man"...you are funny...now turn your baseball cap straight and listen up...I am going to hit you with some truth!

Just because a limited edition M5 might be at the price point of an S63 doesn't put them in the same target audience of consumers. Sure the M5 could lose weight but an S63 weighs literally 500lbs more than the M5. That weight penalty goes to more luxury amenities and such. I get it. Someone who buys the S63 buys it as a true daily driver. It is a powerful and luxurious car but its focus is more on power and luxury and less on sport. I would say that most M5 buyers are not happy about the M5's extra girth and are pretty much at the limit of what is acceptable as far as weight is concerned, since "we" prefer our cars to have a more "sporty" disposition. Most of us would NEVER look at an S-Class MB as an M5 alternative, regardless of the price point.

Think of it this way, say BMW sold a limited edition frozen E90/2 M3 fully loaded and optioned to the max with individual items. Its price point could approach that of an M5. If you are truly in the market for an M3 and all the wonderful things it has to offer (high revving N/A V8, lighter weight, etc), you wouldn't even consider an M5 unless your priority was to get a "more" presitgious badge for the money. So the same is probably true for the M5 vs S63 argument. Yes, there may be a few people who would hop to the "more" presitigious badge, but those people tend to be less of an "enthusiast". BMW isn't looking to sell all M5's at nearly $140K. It is looking to sell 300 of them as a limited edition model with certain features that are specific to just that model. It is directed at a very, very small market segment...and I would venture to say that most of these models will go to people who currently own an F10 M5 and are "upgrading".

199MPH turns out to be exactly 320km/h, which coincidentally is the speed at which the second speed limiter (in the DCT) kicked in on the AC Schnitzer M6 GC at the Nardo top speed event

I would consider upgrading just for that 199mph DCT speed limiter than Boss330 pointed out. Lol!

Yeah, 199MPH would be awesome to have. I'd do it if I still had my '12 in a heartbeat, but I can't take another kick in the nuts so soon after getting the '14 CP. I like the interior, but the exterior is meh IMO.

You should push them a little harder. Have no idea how UK market works, but at first I was told no discounts either, until I went to another dealer

There is no one that has the allocation yet. You gotta call 800# and see if you get an allocation.

This is the best quote I have read. Yes, make the car 600 pounds lighter and keep the HP the same. Very good idea!
