I'm glad that you mentioned the M5 too. I feel that so many people forget that the M5 completely defies physics for a 4,400lbs sedan. I've owned the F10 M5 for over 2 years now and I've only found the limits a handful of times. That's not because I haven't pushed the car, it's because the engineering is so advanced.

Agree, I had a great time there too. I had the most fun in the M3 (2012) on that tight track (SC), but was really impressed how the M5 and M6 did. Especially speed in the straights and the first high speed right-hander, but wasn't bad at all in the switch-backs they had set up. Impressive.

Quite frankly, the M5 is the choice of the instructors at the school because of the raw power and handling. I queried 4 of them and got almost identical answers with the same caveat; that to really push the M5 to its track limits, you have to know what you are doing (skills) and be wide awake (paying attention) and if you are capable of both, the result is absolutely amazing.

I was told told that they are all excellent (I agree) on the track, but the general consensus was a distinct preference for the M5 because an experienced, skilled driver can use the power and handling to get more out the M5.

However, the students were split about 50/50 on their preference.

Me, I felt more confident in the M3 and M4 because it is a more forgiving vehicle than the M5. The M5 is a BRUTE and I look forward to becoming a better track driver in the future so that I can enjoy my own M5 more and more.

Regardless ... M3, M4, M5 are absolutely amazing street and track vehicles and it was a privilege to drive all 3 on multiple occasions during the 2 Day M School.
