Track question!!
Going to silverstone with my M5 and wondering weather to put on the wider 9.5j and 10.5j 601m competition wheels from the M6, my thinking is that they will give a lot more grip but are heavier!!!
Or Standard 343m wheels which at 0.5inch narrower but lighter!! Very confused, a lot of people say that even the tires sit better on the wider M6 rims but the extra weight is also a factor... What would be the best thing to do for a quicker car around track!! |

Honestly, unless you're a serious track rat with hundreds of hours of seat time I don't think it'll make a difference. I'd think at best you're talking tenths of a second differences in your lap times.

If your concern is just wider rims but not heavier than your current one, go for M6 343M rims. They are 9.5" (front) and 10.5" (rear).
Also M6 wheels have different offsets so basically with M6 wheels you are increasing the track width of your car. It looks more aggressive and a bit better traction but make more under-steer and less agile car.

Here is one of them. He has installed 433M wheels (M6GC) with the same width and offset of M6 343M and M6 601M

32 vs 31 (front) and 34 vs 19 (rear).
The front offsets are almost the same; however M6 wheels stand 15 mm out on M5.

Also since its wider it will push the rear even further out than just 15mm.

Not sure if the front m6 on an m5 will rub anywhere on max travel. The super sports are awesome road tire for track duty imo just make sure to air down and watch temps on a hot day those tires get hot with the heavy car. |
