Getting HPFP replaced by dealer free of charge

Took the car to the dealer after seeing some smoke from driver side tail pipe. SA calls me back saying they are replacing the HPFPs and they found codes for it. Car is ready to be picked up.

Apparently, it will be covered under manufacturer warranty. He told me the quote is around $5k (wow, is that true?) to do out of pocket. He adds to tell me that the injectors are also covered for 10yrs so if I still have the issues, injectors are probably next. Mine a 2014 M5 comp, think build date is late 2013.

The part itself I’m not sure of the price but the labor I can see how it can be hefty in price. Involves taking apart the HPFP, lines, rotating the crankshaft to position the cams etc

Got the car back. I could not tell the difference. Here are pics of the right and left units. They do look new.

Just looking at where they are sitting...looks like lot of labor to get to them.

Honeslty getting to them isn’t too bad it’s more of making sure the cams are in the correct position for install

Too early to say. I do feel that it is more responsive than before/I now realize it was sluggish before, comparatively. I did notice that the engine sounds quieter, at least in idle. I have to ask someone to follow me on the freeway to in order to verify the tailpipe smoke. So far, I did not see any in the rear-view mirror.

S63T HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS (HDP) - Nhtsa https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...45273-9999.pdf

There's one for injectors as well.

My issue is with this work they also (or are advised) to change engine oil and I hate to see 0w20 in the car or change it again within a short time span.

Thank you for sharing the bulletin. Believe I have the for the injectors.

I do not see any write up in my paperwork for an oil change. Separately, I getting an oil change at my indy shop for my 5k oil change interval. LM 5w30 Special Tec.

That silver piece, I'm getting conflicting information, but is there 2 HPFP and 2 LPFP?

Also is there some injector pump as well?
