Removing lower air dam grates

Has anyone removed the lower air dam grates? I wanted to straighten the fins on the turbo heat exchangers, but not sure if the grates come out easily w/o breaking.

By the look of the inserts themselves, they are all clipped in with guides next to them. You may need to purchase a radiator hose pick to reach behind and pull each tab from its support. I do not suggest pulling out, but I can be mistaken.

Hmm, I might just be better off removing the fender liners and accessing the heat exchangers that way.

I actually plan to work on straightening my fins as well. I plan to pill the front bumper as those grills attach to the rear of the bumper. I think it will also be easier to vacuum and wash a lot of debris out that way as well.
