Question Already 1150 miles into break in! can I whip it now before service?

I am at 1150 miles now
And service is next week because of work,
Don have to wait till after Break In Sevice? To stomp on it?

I think I did 6k RPM at least a few times now and I may have red it once for a few seconds by mistake when I was on M1 not knowing!! With B&O at max!!
But I checked oil using the car check and it is exactly at MAX still and I heard that is a good sign!!

It's up to you whether or not you follow what BMW recommends, however, from factory BMW fills with temporary fluids (not just engine oil); these are switched to long-life at the break-in service. There is a further break-in recommended in the owners manual (up to 3100 miles) although there is no service at that point.

Like any piece of machinery, the harder you drive it, and the more often, the more likely you are to cause premature wear or failure, if not to the whole car, perhaps to an individual component. It is designed to take some punishment, just depends on how you dish it out.

As an analogy, if you were drilling concrete with a standard masonry drill bit, would you do short bursts to power with cooling down periods, or just go for it until you saw sparks flying? Think of your M5 as a more complex version of that mechanical process...

I took mine to redline on mile 1, did several WOT pulls as well. 10k miles now, not burning a drop of oil and dynoes high numbers. Cheers

It would be a very good idea to wait until the oil is changed before you go WOT / above break-in limits.
