DME 11A002 - High Pressure Fuel Error
Hi Guys,
I'm facing a problem with high pressure fuel. Symptoms: DME 11A002 errors is occuring at high speeds. (sometimes 250+, sometimes 300+) What I have already done: - new fuel injectors - new high pressure fuel pumps - new fuel control unit - tested different fuel (98 RON, 100RON, 102RON, from Germany and Poland) Error still shows up. I have box from pp performance - this error is not up while this car is stock - however, after let's say 250+km/h sometimes (not always) You can feel that car is loosing power like -50-100hp goes down. on stock it's just go slower, on box - error occurs. Do you have any idea what might be wrong? Is it box setup? Bad tune? or something else need to be replaced/fixed/checked? btw: i never use high power of my car when i have low fuel. 1/4 tank is minimum. Cheers!. |

It is nice that you have access to ista for diagnosis! just curious how many miles you have on the M6? As with everything on these cars, anything is possible, but you have pretty much replaced everything that usually shows issues.
The fact that the fault sets at around the same speed and only when the tune is installed makes me think something is going on with that. its most likely requesting more fuel delivery or a higher pressure than the pump can supply, setting the fault. I have never heard of that tune before either. Curious to see what others have to say. |

sounds like you are maxing out fuel trims, what boost are you running?? On a non competition package (not sure what you have) 22 psi will max fuel trim. Octane won't really prevent that issue, its volume of fuel not the octane for that particular issue

Given it isn't there with the stock DME, it is likely your tune. Assume it is a flash since the top-speed limiter is removed... but you are calling it a 'box'. Do you have a piggy-back as well?
No point wasting $$ throwing parts at it. You need to log HPFP - does the pressure drop? At those high speeds the car is pumping a LOT of fuel. Usually its the LPFP that is constrained first.... although injectors can get maxed out. You won't max fuel trims running a flash (22psi). Options: 1. If it is truly a fuel issue, try meth injection and see if it relieves the fuel demand 2. Get another flash tune and try out If you want to throw another part at it, swap the in-tank pump. |

My M6 has 33k km which gives ~20k miles.
It is competition package. I don't know to boost in PSI units but it is 0.3bar more than stock. the HPFP pressure log is (i don't remember the units from ista logs) but should be 20 UNITS but was 15-17 UNITS. Maybe today I'll try to log LPFP and AFR. LPFP or bad tune is the problem - I'll let You know what will be the result. |

Seem to remember Bosch made the AFR go rich at max speed / rpm to cool and cusion the engine for safety on turbo cars... its a while since I looked at this stuff but it wouldn't suprise me if BMW are using the same protocols.

^^^ some non-CP cars are ok at ~23psi+ you just need to log and check your AFR and trims etc, 50/50 chance. Mines ok by I use meth/water now to give extra head room so I am not relying on it.
Easy to adjust boost to suit cars max (all cars are different) a genaric tune doesn't give you this oportunity but a combo of JB4+BCM and a backend flash is best of all worlds... |

Maybe someone will read this and find it useful:
Car back to stock - no more problems, no more worries. Whole fuel management system was Replaced and HPF error still occured. I thouhgt my box is from PP-P but it was pure DTE systems - which I do not recommend at all. They said there is everything ok with the box and soft inside and the problem is with my car (LOL) and they refuse money back. ~2k EURO -wasted. Avoid DTE systems. |
