Gas mileage
Today I drove past Austin 2.5 hours average speed 80. Played a bit on a couple side hill roads on the way back with small high speed runs. The trip home had a few triple digit runs but average 80 again. When I got home I still had 1/4 tank of gas left. Our cars get crazy mileage. So 5 hours total driving and spurts of flooring it yields awesome mileage.

I did my 1200 mile run-in on 3 tanks. When I fill up, it shows around 412 miles estimated for 20 gallons. I'm okay with that as a slightly optimistic guess.

Turbo efficiency at its finest-- but if you are heavy footed driver it will go the other way.

i get a little bit better gas mileage than the E60 but i like to drive my car like its an M5 not like a prius. i dont see how you could drive this car on the highway without down shifting and overtaking some cars or down shifting and going WOT just to let the throttle go so you can hear the backfire. :-/

I agree a heavy foot equals the opposite. I don't baby mine either especially when I see an open road. But I choose my battles when Tx Dps is out in full effect from Austin to Houston. No need for a citation especially when I had that same job for 12 years in Houston.

No politics, just wondering about the tactics involved. I know that mile marker 712 is a hangout. I once got a warning there and from then on, I checked it and it's sure enough a frequent location of traffic stops. The other question is regarding the days when it's obvious there is some kind of push on to give tickets. When are the quota days and what about those multi-organization enforcment days, what drives them?

As I stated I don't get into politics especially when i didnt work for those departments and cant explain their actions or inactions. But if we all do what we're supposed to, we don't have to worry about being pulled over.

When driving through Italy at speeds of 80miles, I managed about 25MPG.
When I took re delivery of the M5 back in the US I had a heavy foot. parked in the garage and looked at the MPG... 8.1 Depends on how you drive. |

Just did a trip from Tacoma, WA to Boise, ID and back on ~2.5 tanks. That includes shitty Portland traffic. I think that's just under 1200 miles.
