Wow. This tells me we're all lucky because the damn things makes you floor it. Look up and you're going 100mph. Today I had a epiphany, and said do I really need more speed. It's clearly an addiction. My next car was going to be a GT3 when they move the 20k mark up and msrp would be sweet. The M5 has 4500 miles on it in 12 months, and the Pcar has 2k. The others stay parked; so looks like you boys are stuck with me. I will keep the M5 until next GEN which is a ways out, and I may have 20k miles on the car byes still loving the M5 like a wife that's added some lbs. Opppps sorry divorced(: enjoy your cars boys. If you're in ATL go to C&O next Sunday in Alpharetta. Google the info, Cold and I will be there with a few others.

Anyways I guess I need to stop driving it. I have 5100 miles on mine since June 29.
Drive the crap out of it, and enjoy it. Living in two states, and another country sucks for having more drive time. I envy you guys.

I've had my M5 for a year. I drive it more frequently than my Ferrari F430. Both are great cars. The M5 as many say here can be a comfy lux sedan and then you hit a button and the only thing you have to worry about is getting pulled over. The car is a beast.

I've driven the M5 at the 2 day driving school in SC which was incredible. You just can't even come close to what these cars can do on any public roads. In some ways the track time I've spent not only in the BMW but in other exotics as well has somewhat ruined me. You take any of these great cars mentioned in the thread and you realize they are on a leash while on most public roads. If you do push them to the limit off track you typically take on alot of risk (police, somebody pulling out, hitting a person/animal, sliding off road and hitting pole or something else, etc).

However the alternative is driving a "regular" car which if you think an M5 could ever leave you bored than imagine a run of the mill vehicle. The M5, porsche and others are all incrementally way more fun but I urge you to get on the track if you feel the need for speed.

We lose our license down here at 45k over the 110k limit. The only place to enjoy the car is on the track - which I do regularly. But the only problem is that the car is actually too heavy to drive at the track. As much as I love the M5 it is too heavy for a track car. Which means it is kind of useless on my opinion. Too fast for the road and too heavy for the track. This is my dilemma. I am thinking of trading it for a base 911 which I think could be a good compromise. But then I can't fit my 3 kids in the back. I am stuck. I don't know where to go apart from a cayenne gts, but the wife has a X5 50i, which is a great family car. I am truly lost on the car front at the moment. Nice problem to have when I have the M5 !

The F80 M3 may be the answer for you my friend. Will be under 3,300lbs and will still be able to sit the kids in the back semi-comfortably (no 4-zone climate control, no heated rear seats, no rear seat entertainment), although not as nicely as the M5. Compromise has to be made somewhere though.

4-zone climate control? Only kids now get that luxury. When we were little, 4-zone meant rolling the windows down on all the station wagon doors!

Yes indeed. Poor kids suffering without the essential amenities these days. It's a shame I tell ya! The GT3 doesn't even have back seats. I'll make my kids ride in the frunk.

I have been driving my car like a old man lately. There are times when you just want to be comfortable and be in a smooth driving car. The M5 in comfort and D1/S1 is awesome in that aspect. The shifts are delayed, but they are seamless and you don't feel any jerk from gear to gear. This was my #1 reason for upgrading from E60 and leaving the V10. You can be comfortable in the M5 like your driving a 7er.

Yesterday I kept MDM on all day and it was a fun day. The roads were clear and the M5 really shines. It must be fun to live in Germany and drive the autobahn.

So with that said.. It's difficult to get tired of the car because of how diverse it is and how capable of a DD it is.

Got a trick little m-sport 320d loaner while my car is in getting serviced, makes you realize what a big beast the m5 is....Aussie F10...you are like me the F10 is too big for the track I used my E92 for track days many time...you need a 4 door M3...however I dont want to part with it!

As for 1st world problems, my boy was laughing at having to close the door firmly on the 3 series (no soft close) when I dropped him at school this morning, really dad? he said to me! (v funny - he was taking the micky out of me and himself)

Cheers
