[QUOTE=RPiM5;14036517]

Naturally I snapped a photo of my milage and date before I handed them the keys. Not that I needed to but hey you never know.

Ha. I took a pic of mine also plus told the sales mgr I don't want anyone driving my car unless I'm there with them. Hope you guys find out whats wrong. I hear some type of buzzing from front right
Also. Just trying to find it first.

Apparently there is already an SIB out for this problem. The dealer needs to order a specific kit from Germany and it takes a week for it to ship. So I'm picking my M5 back up tomorrow and will bring it back in next week. I don't know if using this cleaning kit from BMW is a permanent fix but I hope so.

Anyways that's all that I know. I'll report back next week.
Can you share the SIB number? Thanks!

Alright bro's,

I had my SA print out the SIB for this for me.

Here it is. The SIB number is at the top left.

Lucky for me there was another dealer in the area that had a kit here and my dealer was able to get it yesterday and they used it on my M5. I picked it up this morning, drove it around the parking lot a few times and the clicking was completely gone! Woot! I've been driving it hard around town for a few hours today and I still can't hear it anymore. So I guess it did the trick.

Apparently the clicking is coming from between the wheel bearing and the swivel bearing or (knuckle). Read the info below for more.

That's the generic one which has been around since 10/12 , it's not M5 specific ...

Coincidentally my clicking noise is now back! Doh!

Might have to take it back in to find a more permanent solution. :/

Mine turn out to be the brakes and calipers they were loose inside the caliper causing the noise. It is gone FOR NOW.. lol.... Follow up spoke to the tech. He told me the noise will come back from the brakes. And BMW NA is saying its a Brembo problem...

Still at the shop (having windshield replaced as well).

They said they fixed the ticking noise and that it was caused by a bearing issue. I'll get detailed info when I pick up the car and share with the board.

The drivetrain issue. They are telling me its because I've taken too many short trips which resulted in a low battery voltage . First of all, the error came on after a spirited 45 minute drive - obviously enough time to charge the battery, right? Second, what on earth does a low battery voltage have to do with a drivetrain malfunction? At any rate, they cleared the errors and sounds like it's fine.

Resolution to my ticking noise issue

Resurrecting an old thread in case it helps others. I had the clicking/ticking noise pop up over the last 2 weeks in my 1 year old 2016 M5.

Took it to the dealers - they ran procedures for the following sib340515 (installed friction disc and reworked rotors). Only drove it for a few miles since fix and the noise is gone. Let's see if it lasts.

I just had this noise pop up in the past few days as well, on my '16 M5. Perfect timing on your post. Thanks! Danny
