Spilled soda on iDrive controller...

Well...the time has come. And I can't blame anyone but myself.

I've dumped 70% isopropyl alcohol all over the media/radio and nav buttons and cleaned all around and eventually the iso loosens them but overnight they become sticky again and not clicky like they used to be.

I remember very well how they used to feel. I'm afraid they'll never feel the same again

I realize this should've been posted in > Cosmetic Maintenance (wash/wax, protection, repairs) but this page gets more attention. I'm looking for a way to fix this asap.

BTW, this is for an M6. The M5 iDrive module is really easy to take out. The M6 looks much more difficult. Are there any other methods to clean these buttons that doesn't involve removing the module?

No not really, besides maybe getting a can of compressed air meant for blowing crap out of computer keyboards, to blow out and dry the liquid. Best thing to do is replace the whole damn unit, but it's expensive.

Do you have CIC or NBT? If its NBT, it'll be a plug and play.. touch option won't work. To get the touch feature to work is a MPITA.

That's too bad. I've used some canned air and a greaser spray. Slowly getting back to normal.
