When they do become as useless as all the other tires is in the cold, im talking anywhere below 50f, but all of them are useless at that point anyway. MPSS4 seem great but IMO only for the winter months, lots of rain and cold, otherwise im looking for Nitto NT05R next, wonder if someone will beat me to it and try them out !! |

Guess this thread will be a waiting game until someone actually tries the NT05R

There are many owners that have tried NT05R and MT ET SS. My take is the MT is the best to hook up on the strip. Horrible in rain and bad around turns. NT05R not as good hooking as MT but still very good. A little better in the rain and will last longer than the MT. I think NT05R is best street used drag tire. MT is the best drag tire.

The best rear size on my lowered M5 is 305/30/20 with no rubbing issues.....I'm going to try the NT05's for the street next.....

I am moving back into an M5 again (next week) and will be in the same boat. Looking at NT05 or NT555r. I want something that can grip & cope with Scottish weather / water on the roads

Bought a new M5 in 2013 and it came with MPSS which were very very good. I guess MPS4's are better? Still pretty rubbish in the wet and cold though. My m8 had a 335i running stage 2 and meth putting out over 500bhp with winter tyres and the grip was crazy good. Need to go find out what he was running.
I agree in Aberdeenshire we need real grippy tyres. My M5 running MPSS tried to kill me on several occasions!! Don't really car how long they last as long as they grip. NT555r look like a really good all round weather tyre, not sure if anyone has tried them?

Having driven on the R888R for a bit now I must say I am very impressed. It is WAAAYY better than the R888 (non-R). Not sure how long it will last, but other than increased road noise its a winner!

This will be my first raining season here in So cal on r888r....we'll see. The r888r seems to have less tread pattern than the r888, but I drive pretty civilized in the wet.
In the dry, r888r will hook at top of 2nd onward, @~700wtq |
