I went from 550i to M3 to M5, the M4 is next. That is if the M2 is out and turns out to be a cracker. I wish I had owned the 135M. oh well. I'm 40 and don't limit my cars to how others perceive them to be classy or not I'm too old for that haha. If it stirs my soul, i'm gettin it.

I consider the M3 as an M entry car. I now have the M5 so no plans to really have anything lower than that. What I am considering is another car, one that I could take for everyday work commute and which does not need to be driven to the gas station every now and then, something like an all-electric Tesla.

have you heard the z4 35is? it sounds badass so the M3 should sound as good or even better. Even a little more grunt than the M5.
With that said I am definitely getting the M4 when it comes out. I saw it when I did ED at the M studio with Marcel and it looked/sounded really good |

The real question is do you want a 3/4 series or a 5 series. I don't think too many people that chose to buy/lease a 4 door luxury sedan would say, "Hey lets get a 2 door sports car!". When I looked at buying my first BMW last year with my wife we looked at the M3 Coupe/Sedan (no 4 series back then) I was impressed. However the dealer let my wife sit in an M5 to test out HUD to see if she like it and my dream car was sold right there and then. I haven't seen the interior of the new 4 series but if the difference between the M4 and M5 is as great as the difference between the M3 and M5, I'd pick M5 all day long and buy an M6 if I wanted a two door with a cramped back seat (IMHO)

I definitely won't get rid of my M5 for the new M3/M4. I may consider trading my M3, just not sure yet. I may end up going with porsche 911 s.

I have a E92 M3 also with a deposit down on the new M3 Coupe. I want to drive it before I decide to swap the E92 for the F30M. If I do swap. It will be debadged and rebadged M3. After sitting in a 435i M Sport I have to say the build quality/lux/feel of the car seems cheaper/worse than the E92 - heading towards the 1 series rather than the 5 series. One of the BIG things BMW got right when going from E46->E92 was making the car feel alot more expensive and better built. Neil.
