"Papa Racing Car M5"

I was taking my toddler to see a museum today. We had to cross a tunnel. I dropped the beast down a few cogs and gave it some gas. Wife didn't like the torque effect but the toddler loved it. "Papa do it again please" followed by "wow". Then "again again please". So we hooned through the tunnel and my son and I were laughing all the way through. It was all safe - tunnel was nearly empty and I would only speed up to 40 before taking foot off the gas.

When we were coming back he named the beast "papa racing car M5"! It brought a huge smile on my face.

Anything can get you from point A to B. But it's cars like these that bring a smile to the face despite all their quirks. Makes you feel alive and have emotions for the car. But more than anything it added a wonderful memory for a father and son.

Classic. Our M5 is known as the spaceship to my kids and the loud car at 5:45 am to my neighbors.

The best part is how normal it is to them. They are on their Nintendo 3DS's like nothing is going on now. Give one of their little cousins a ride and it's an eye opening experience for them and their Dads.

Nice! Every once in a while I drive into the city for work instead of taking the train. I usually hit the Lincoln Tunnel around 5:00AM when it's pretty empty, so I lower the window and get in a few 30-60 runs - sounds freaking awesome!

Your neighbors are lucky, mine call it their 4:15 "secondary" alarm clock.

Love it..my son is 7 and asks every time we have to go out if we can take the M5. And of course when we drive it I hear 'go fast' constantly from the back seat.

So good to hear that this rocketship / racing car / go fast car etc. is a source of joy for so many kids. I love the fact that we can put my family into the beast comfortably and all of our stuff, yet hoon around and have a big smile on the face.

I seriously can't think of any other car that could do it more comfortably or hilariously (umm maybe E63 AMG S but that's for another time!)

Haha! So true. While my son and I were laughing all the way through, my wife (the fun police) says "how did I get stuck with these two immature monkeys"!

Today while driving on the turnpike to my parents house, our son says "papa, where tunnel" I explain to him that there are no tunnels on the way to grandpa house. He looks sad and says "do vroom vroom papa racing car M5"!!!

My 5 year son did the same thing. He always wanted me to hit the M2 button and scare his Mom. Now that the lease is over he seems more sad than me.

My daughter just took delivery of a new TTS. Took me for a drive up a fairly damp mountain road and I was the one asking to slow down . Damned thing is amazingly quick in the corners AND sticks like glue. I gave her a lecture afterwards about not taking that kind of performance TOO much for granted when it gets icy

Nice! I get the same effect from both my young daugthers. My younger one 'dub' my M5 the super duper fast car! whereas she called my former e46 M3 'the super fast car' LOL
