Accident Estimate!

I want to share the estimate
I told my bodyshop that I will be collecting my old headlights so I can decorate them in my den since the lights do come on.
any idea how to hook them up to lit at home?

Also what would R&I stands for and which fog lamps are they talking about in the estimate?

Wwwwwwwtttttttttttffffffffffffff??? Are they being serious? I spy like two, maybe three thousand dollars of damage at the very very most (given the headlights are reusable).... Am i crazy...or are they?

Ha Ha chill guys, The accident was not my fault which means I am not responsible for any costs. And yes the car was torn down and carefully inspected I assume since I was calling daily both my insurance company and body shop to check what is going on and making sure I am fucking picky guy so make sure everything come back as "new". I told my body shop to replace everything to new parts where damage is found even headlights are working I told them to replace them since there were some scratches. Kind enough ordering the new hood as well where they found little bent. Sharing this to give you guys an idea

That is what I am doubting now... but I will check with them what "fog lamps" mean in the estimate because they could be meaning testing the angel eyes

Maybe hawaiiracer1 can comment since he's in the industry, but what this looks like to me is a collision repair system where you click "front end collision" and select the make and model (BMW 2013 F10) of the car and it pulls up the laundry list of items that may be impacted from an accident of the type selected. Note there are a bunch of lines, including the on referencing the fog lights, that have no values. I would assume this is so the tech checks everything on the list to assess whether any repairs are needed. It would seem to limit the likelihood that the tech misses something and returns the car to the customer with less than 100% of affected items repaired.

You should make sure that if this is going to show up on CarFax that you get compensated for that. My car was completely repaired after being t-boned by some bitch that was texting and ran a stop sign. The air bags deployed and all the parts were replaced with OEM parts, the work was done by a BMW approved shop. It cost me $8,000-10,000 on my trade. The CarFax stuff will ruin the value of your resale if the accident is in their database. Whether or not the car was properly repaired is now irrelevant, it's a ding point on resale. So you need to get the insurance company to reimburse for loss of resale value. I was told by several people that this is what I should have done two years ago. Funny no one at the time mentioned it, live and learn.

I think what you are referring to is diminished value. Only problem is insurance companies don't compensate for this loss. At least a few years back, when someone hit me, they didn't cover it...

In Canada (at least Ontario) no diminished value claim. It will show up on a car proof which is definitely going to affect resale in the event you sell or trade-in at a later time. When someone sees $14K in damage, most will walk away. Take pictures to at least have proof that it wasn't a major issue.

It's a loss in value and thus the person that hit you is liable for any injury, that is an injury. You always have to ask for what you want in a lawsuit, if you don't, you will never get it. The insurance company isn't going to give it to you just for asking but if you can prove injury, they have to pay, by law. Otherwise you sue the other driver in court and they will have to claim their insurance. One way or another, you have a right to make the claim.

You can still do it for up to 3 years after the accident. It's called a diminished value claim. You probably won't get the full amount, but definitely worth the exercise.

Here's an example of something in the plus column on a lease......turn it in when done with no diminished value :-)

Body shops are con artists. Especially when they know insurance companies are paying.

2 years ago my E60 M5 was in an accident (I wasn't driving) and the estimate was a joke. I had two HRE's that needed to be replaced and they were trying to charge the insurance company 15% ABOVE retail..... Any person off the street can walk in a buy HRE'S for at least 10% less than retail. They were replacing things that were no where near needing replacement.

Ahhh, that begs the question. If you lease a car and have a fault-free accident, can you still make a loss of value claim? Is that money yours or the finance company? What if you end up deciding to purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease, presumably you can still make a loss of value claim at that time assuming no statute of limitations issue, correct?

that is approved estimate from the insurance company
also notice no labor hours on the fog lamps
and funny because right after the collision I myself was thinking around $10k minimum.... T.T
