Proof in the numbers: Americans are keeping the 6MT M5/M6 alive

You may recall before the M5 introduction, the M Division head reluctantly said in an interview that b/c of the US demand, they will offer a 6MT M5, though it wasn't his preference for various reasons (technology and production efficiencies).

Here is the proof in the final figures showing his point:

This is the breakdown of E9X M3 deliveries based on transmissions and years.
LCI = 2009-2013 models
RoW = "Rest of the World"

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=863649

and there you have it, proof in the numbers DCT is the preferred transmission...from a demand standpoint, EVERYONE in the world essentially prefers DCT, and as such, BMW only offered DCT in the F10 M5 for RoW.

This is also hard proof that Americans are truely keeping the 6MT alive! (We are the single largest market for M cars in the world) It's also interesting as it shows, the "hardcore" 6MT drivers, all chose to buy the 2008 launch models, IE the first year production. As the final years heavily favored DCT.

Interesting. I wonder what the numbers look like so far for 6MT F10 M5's/M6's and now M6GC's. I've only ever seen about 4 6MT F10 M5's in real life compared to dozens and dozens of DCT F10 M5's.

Just given all the member's photos and what's at the dealership, I'm guessing DCT dominates the take downs in the US, not sure what the figures look like.
