Because winter tires will improve the braking, traction and overall grip at pretty much any temperature below 5-7 degrees C – even in the dry.
That's why they're mandatory in Germany. IMO, it's a must for a 600 Hp RWD car.

Agreed, this year I am making the change in early November versus waiting.

Yeah the new GT500 is a beast and definitely not an easy drive compared to DCT.
With a good driver the GT500 will beat a stock M5. My buddies stock 13 GT500 does the 1/4 mile in 11.5 sec @ 125 mph. Very good driver. |

This car truly scares the hell out of me at times. However, the thing I hate the most is constant traction control interference. I used to drive on MDM to alleviate the problem, but after going sideways after punching it at 70mph once and unintentionally going sideways on a corner, I decided to never use it again.
Then there's the matter of a few nights ago when an older Chevy sedan began driving aggressively around me and tried to race me from a stoplight. Taking off normally, which in this car is quickly, he thinks I'm trying to race and punches it so I decide to entertain him. Immediately traction control kicks in and he pulls on me all the way to the next light. It was cooler outside than it has been all year so that may have played a factor in the traction light flashing for what felt like at least 5 seconds before I had grip. As I roll up, I could see and hear his passengers pointing and laughing. This much power NEEDS AWD!!! |

DSC cuts in way way too much. MDM which can be a bit unpredictable at times is the only way to go. Recommend very open parking lot or race track and practice with MDM and or DSC off.

That's the only bit that disappoints me with this car. If you are unlucky enough to hit quite a big line it can be like a flag in the wind. Not acceptable for a car of this value.

The M5 was not able to pull on the GT500. Too much weight advantage and too much power. Would I trade my M5 for one? No: the Ford is two doors, in my opinion only two truly usable seats, and not as luxurious. That being said, the only thing that slowed the driver of the GT500 down that weekend was when he went a little too deep into a corner and tested the runoff patch enough to make him do a quick gut check and slow down. But, that could have been any of us. |

So you say ... you have a M5?
You've been pissing on the M5 for the longest time ... why not just pawn it off? Quote:

Yes I'm guilty of bashing it recently. I need to stop . I leased it so eventually it will go. Although its a great car which i have stated, it's simply not the six figure gas guzzling super sedan i was hoping for. Im not saying its not fast, it is, but its just too luxurious and insulated for its own good and seriously overpriced. Residuals and current dealers prices reflect this. I was one of the first to jump in blindly. I should have test driven it first. Maybe I'm still too young for this kind of car. I'm still drinking the BMW kool aid so the M4 is next
