European Delivery - Ebola Outbreak - Impacts to Travel?

Not even sure where to start here but long story short I've started the process on my M5 Order late last week and have requested a Thanksgiving Day Delivery in Munich.

I just thought about this today though. Seems like there are developments on the Ebola Outbreak weekly (daily at times) and with this trip being a month out, I'm curious what other's thoughts are on potential risks to travelling to Europe (looking at flying out of Vancouver, Canada). I understand this is a speculative type of thread at this point but what would others do here?

Right now, I could switch to US Delivery and not have to deal with possibly cancelling travel plans if this outbreak continues to worsen (checkpoints at US Entry Airports, holding cells, etc.). In the grand scheme this really is a "first world" problem and I'm not trying to make light of the outbreak but would like to hear others thoughts.

Also for those curious, specs on my 2015 M5 below:

Imperial Blue Metallic
Amaro Brown Extended Merino Leather (Individual)
Piano Black Trim (Individual)
Executive Package
20" 343 Wheels
Enhanced USB & Bluetooth
Color Matched Headliner (Awaiting response)
"M5 Badge" Front Kidney Grille Delete

Non issue in my eyes. My spent her life studying these types of outbreaks. I have had long talks with her about Ebola. The conclusion is they will only restrict people flying from high risk countries (if at all) . Your plane has a better chance of have a mechanical malfunction then you getting or having your flight canceled due to Ebola.

I am. Like I said, just wanted feedback on what others would do.

Maybe I'm over thinking it but who knows how far reaching this outbreak could get.

Don't go to Africa. But no reason not to go to Germany.

To me the European city that's most risky is Paris since that seems to be a haven for travelers from Africa.

Thanks. Another helpful reply. This is essentially what I was after. I dont do a lot of International Travel and wasn't sure how frequent air traffic is to Germany from African Countries.

Gave it some thought and it looks like Im going to keep my trip if I can get my requested date. Possibly no Individual Leather or Trim due to the short timeframe b/w now and Nov. 27.

Would you travel to anywhere in the US? Don't see the risk of flying to Munich be any different from flying anywhere in the US.

BTW, your specs are eerily close to mine. I just did ED of an Imperial Blue with Amaro Brown (full leather in my case), Piano Black and badge delete. The only differences seem to be that I went with CP but didn't dare to go with the headliner in matching color.

Yup, I travel ALL the time in the US (too much actually). Ok thanks.

Wow, promise I didn't copy your build. Ha thought mine was really going to be "one of a kind". You have any pics of your ///M?

Soild build btw, though my second choice Interior is now Sakhir Orange Full Leather.

I haven't heard back on that request yet. Maybe I wasnt clear but I never liked the "M5" on the front grille on this generation. i'd like it better w/o.

I wouldn't be too worried at all.. I have a friend who works in Sierra Leone and he is just careful not to have too much contact with other people.. So for Germany, I wouldn't be worried at all... In case you really are worried, minimized touch contact with others and you can wear a face mask while in the airport.

It's really a non-issue man. I think you are letting the media and social media hysteria affect your judgement. Ebola is NOT an airborne contagion. You are more likely to struck by lightning than to contract Ebola from international travel.

As for the car, I hope it all works out. Please post up some pictures and stuff. Seems like there aren't too many people doing ED on M5's lately.

Mine just arrived in Port Hueneme as part of the re-delivery process after ED. Will take pictures after I've picked it up.

Also, it would be interesting if they actually do support your request for badge delete from the front grill. I was told that it isn't just a stick on badge but that the grill has notches in which they fit the badge. Let us know how it pans out.

Correct. The grille slats have a molded spot for the badge.

While I hope this request is met, I highly doubt it will. Best of luck.

Thanks. Yes, I'll definitely post some pics.

Interesting, I didn't know the grille slats were molded for the badge. I think that extra "M5" is OD.

If I decide to keep the Individual Trim and Leather, I can't take delivery until 12/1. My preference was to minimize PTO Days.

PhilT3, I came very close to "replicating" your M5 Build (minus the Driver Assist) in order to keep my preferred 11/27 date. Interesting that the Individual components add 2 working days to delivery schedule.

Check out the chart if you are concerned about Ebola. I am a banker and have to fly quite a bit. I am concerned about getting on planes right now. So you are not alone bud
